-levels in the older games even some deadly shadows were quite big interconnected levels. Reboot levels are segemented outside maybe 2 levels.
-besides light in dark the older games had different surfaces that made different levels of noise. In reboot you only need to avoid glass otherwise crouch walk or swoop across levels.
-rope arrows, older games besides deadly shadows you can use on any wooden surface. Reboot is fixed points
-story in all three thief games are really good. Reboot is a nonsensical mess.
but i loved the game.
there are some games that fall victim to the crowd's loud opinion and so everyone accept it cuz its the only SEEMINGLY NOTICIBLE one.
but today we pity the fact that these type of games arent made anymore, and we miss it and return to this discussion board
as if this game was worth more than what we thought it were back in the day
There are plenty of stealth focused games out there being made by indies like gloomwood.
Issue is that stealth as a genre isn’t popular which is why a lot of AAA devs haven’t bothered with them, or add combat along with it.
Regardless of the setting mechanically it still holds up as is the level design something I can’t say for the reboot. Which has some fantasy elements in it and steam punk but less of it.
I loved Thief 4 as well. It hit all the right points while streamlining a lot of the jank. It felt good and satisfying to play and I adored mission 5. I think most people don't like it because it wasn't faithful enough to Thief 1 and I don't blame them. It didn't hit EVERY mark, and some people value certain things more than I do, and don't value the things that I do. The story isn't the best, but it isn't terrible either. Erin was a bit of a miss, even for me.
Overall, I loved it. I wish it kept going. The new voice actor for Garret wasn't bad by any means, he did a great job, but nothing will be the original voice actor.
Guess what dishonored 1 and 2 you still stuff also and sneak around guess it’s a better thief game then.
