This game in VR would be lit
VR version of this game or a future version of Thief would be very immersive. What do you think? :Hand_Garrett:

This game works well in VorpX, but I agree. An official VR port of this game would work REALLY well. Grabbing loot, pickpocketing, picking locks, feeling around bookshelves, and picture frames, for hidden switches (with haptic feedback) would work great with motion controls. Already, bow and arrow mechanics work flawless in VR - Skyrim for example.

I would love to replay this in full VR. Would really enhance the atmosphere and gameplay and I believe would revive the Thief franchise as a whole.

Imagine crouching for hours IRL and say bye-bye to your knees.

You don't need to crouch in real life in a lot of VR games. Most VR games today have a virtual crouch option. Skyrim, Walking Dead Saints and Sinners, Boneworks, and many other games have this option.

A VR games works better when it doesn't take away the looking control from the player and Thief does that a lot.
That would disorient the player.

You could change or disable these features in VR edition.

The cutscene camera would have to change a bit, but not too much. I've seen flat-games ported to VR with cutscenes and the camera was mainly stationary, allowing the player to look around. If the camera needed to move it would instantly teleport the player, no auto-smooth movement. A couple of examples with this that come to mind are the Serious Sam VR games and the GTA V VR mod.

Ive been playing Thief through a VR program called BigScreen. It is not true VR, but it really increases the level of immersion in my opinion. It is basically a giant wraparound screen so it makes you feel right up close. Its like an Imax theatre and a Viewmaster toy. I like it but i know there other options for playing in VR. Theres HelixVision if you want stereoscopic 3d. I also loaded Thief up in Vorpx which works and makes it closer to a full VR experience with the head tracking and depth, but the controls are mixed up. So theres no perfect VR experience, but there are a few decent options. BigScreen seems to be the happy medium for me, and its free, so give it a shot if you can. I actually just finished Resident Evil 6 the same way, and it was pretty intense! Great way to replay old games with more immersion, so double the value. Hope this helps. If you have questions about it i can try to answer here.

Unknightly is about as close as you will get, but it's unfinished. Dude got did all the hard stuff getting the game to work, but then gave up on level design, or more likely it didn't sell well and he gave up.
