Watrch Tower Question RE: Stonemarket, Baron's Way South Map

The tower you see just after entering the map from The City.

I remember trying to get up there where the guard with a crossbow is stationed, but it was way long time ago, so details of that are foggy.

Whenever I see a place like that, especially when there's a tempting rope nearby, I wanna figure out how to reach it. I've tried googling this, but have come up dry. I'm just wondering if there's anything up there to mitigate the trouble. I've solved similar puzzles in other games only to find to my utterly rankling disgust that there's an empty pot on the other end of the rainbow.

Okay, the answer is "no; there's nothing of interest in that tower, but the answer is readily discovered during the Basso job, "Taking a Fence," presenting one with another puzzle!

I'll leave this up in case someone else has a question about that tower.

Ok, let's start with, m t. rooms (in Thief) are often a sign that there is still more to come. In other words once you track a side mission the items in that room become available. So that leave's us with where to go and what to do next. One SM, your required to find a bust of some big shot. The room is found early in the game, but the item is not there. When the SM is tracked later in the game, lo n behold, there it is along with whatever else. How do I know this? Because I walked around for hours looking for a room I found in the beginning and forgot about.
