Thief - is steal worth it?

I know you get the chance to steal better items as your job class levels but is it worth it for anything? Like one of a kind drops summons/etc. never played FF3 before.

Off the top of my head, I only remember one rare weapon that was probably easier to steal than it is to try to get the side quest boss (Odin) to drop, but it didn't seem important enough to get. I did everything in the game without going out of my way to steal anything.

The rare weapon he is talking about is dropped by Odin, it's called Gungnir. It is the best spear in the game, so if you plan on using a dragoon endgame, you might want to train a thief's job level for that fight. Besides that, you can get free potions and other not-rare items from most enemies.

Yeah I ended up reading about Gungnir and some others like a Prot ring. The class isn't that bad deals some decent damage and Flee is nice when I need it; might as well take one to 99 for the steals and the Legendary smith item anyway.

Steal isnt that great really , aside from stealing Gungnir & getting free potions & other items. I found it better to dual wield daggers & attack really.
