Hard to tell from the altered graphics. This is FF5 correct? The informed know that Final Fantasy II and III were not released in the US. They were NES games. What WE commonly know as "Final Fantasy II" is a SNES game that is actually Final Fantasy IV.

SO: Is this Final Fantasy V, or the true Final Fantasy III that was not released in the US? I have not played either of those in about two decades and the graphics look unfarmilure.

This is the port of the DS version of FF3. FF3 got a DS remake so did FF4.
FF5 hasn't been released on steam. But yes this is the FF3 from the NES era that's been updated.

FF5 you can find via emulation services, there's a PS1 port, an Android and possibly iOS(?) port, uh...Gameboy Advance..probably about it? I really enjoyed it.

Exactly, there's also a GBA port of FFV (and it has some sort of quicker save which lacks terribly in the PS1 version)

No, this game is a remake of Final Fantasy 3 for the NES. It was never released in the West during it's original launch.
