secret content from the ds version
I'm looking at walkthroughs for the ds version and i'm seeing a bunch of stuff about secret items and stuff.
like ultimate mastery items for each job.
and the onion knight job.
and a secret dungeon.

all this secret content can only be accessed by using mognet to connect with other real players through wifi connections with you're ds.

is this secret content available in the pc version?

Yes they are available. Most of them are done here by unlocking a certian % of the bestiary. I would recommend when you go through the game to make sure that you get into a fight and kill EVERY creature available in each and every area. As this way you wont miss anything along the way. The same deal should be done with chests too.

There are a few good guides out there that tell what creatures are available for every area as well as give warnings if you can't go back to certian areas so that you make double sure you get every creature done. They are DS guides but they have served well for me thus far and I'm at the end of the game now. :D

well like...what i'm referring to is stuff like this. from the guide to unlocking oonion knight

"First get 7 people and register them on your Address Book. Have the other
7 players do so as well. Remember, they do not have to be the same ones.
You can have person A,B,C,D,E,F,G. And Person B could have A,U,G,K,T,Y,Z.
So you need to send and 7 messages from them. And during which,
you should also mail , the elder from (the town)
and do it until you've mailed him 3 times. Now, if you've added your
friend's , and they've added yours, either of you can go to "send Mail"
and send each other mail. When you've done your mailing, go and mail
for the time. This shall get you a distress signal. He'll want
you to come back and save little kids. Oh joy... a mission.
It'll be well worth it though, because, well you'll see.
After you talk to , go north to the cave and keep going forward.
You'll eventually meet the 3 kids, trapped against a wall by 3 Bombs."

so in this version you don't have to do all that crap? you just unlock it by finishing the bestiary?

Yup that is exactly what I am refering too. Check this page out for more info:

I'll give a bit of info that I found out myself however for this today tho. That being after getting the 3rd letter from the Princess/Cid it seems you have to unlock/visit the Eureka land before you can get the 4th letters from them. That and getting about 80% of the beastiary unlocked is mainly what you have to focus on to access all these extra features.

As for the onion knight job you can get that very early in the game, just keep checking your mails as the main char and when you get the 4th one from Toppa you can unlock the class.

so they still have mognet and the letters, but I dont have to register human players?

Mognet is still there to get the mails from the npc's but you can't send messages as that feature was intended for the DS version to take advantage of Wifi play. We can't do Wifi here to connect with other players so that part (sending messages) was taken out for the mobile phones/pc version of the game.

From what I understand, in the non-DS versons there are other ways to unlock the bonus content, however.
