Damage wise it's all about the Dark Knight for me.
Geomancer was fun for a while.
MNK is crazy damage once you get into bare fist fighting.
And I'm currently grinding my THF in the Goblin Battle School to get up to job level 71 for that Odin steal. And loving it the longer I play it. Great job.
I've just got bored of FFXI online after nearly 8 years of playing it.
And whilst I never actively played my WHM, it was level 99. And people used to like me using it back in the level 75 cap days.
On FFXI I loved loved loved RDM with a passion for the longest time.
Abyssea ruined that for me. And made me change to BST pretty much permanently.
Though I did enjoy using my THF for anything it was useful at.
Still, come the final boss/crystal tower, my job lvl 99 red mage was doing the highest DPS of my entire party, and could also act a a backup/secondary healer to the devout, awsome.
and i didnt even need to grind much to get to 99 beacuse you have the basic jobs very early in the game, and they level up faster then the advanced jobs.
Devouts be like
The same could be said about warrior and swords, but those swords with elemental damage are found much earlier in the game, where they aren't exacly showing the awesome potential of elemental damage.
The thief will always have that place in my heart when it comes to this game.
Another job I really like is the Viking. It's probably the best job to have in your party when you have high job levels, and provoke hits almost every time. That Viking just laughs with his two shield when he gets hit for 0 damage.
