I honestly WISH it were FF6, but this IS the original 3, which is overall really good.

How can you mix 3 and 6? That's just retarded.
Levari Jun 1, 2014 @ 2:33am
Because Final Fantasy 3 in the US was originally on the SNES. It was never called 6 in the states until much later. Making it very simple to mix the games up.

Do you have any idea how stupid that sounds?

It doesn't, levari is right. In America, FF6 was always named FF3 on the SNES for whatever stupid reasons. Then later, when it came out as a port to the PSx, it was renamed correctly to FF6. FF3 itself was never released in America so most people see FF3 as FF6.

Suddenly, FF3 is released on Steam. People who don't know are confused. You get the idea.

You honestly have no idea how unimaginably dumb that sounds?

From FF Wiki:
"Final Fantasy VI was the third installment in the Final Fantasy series to be released in North America (after the original Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy IV) and was first released in North America as Final Fantasy III to maintain the naming continuity."

So? It's still unbelievably dumb.

Except that Square rereleased all the games - except this one - as Origins(1+2), Chronicles(4+Chrono Trigger) and Anthology(5+6) on PS1... So there really should be no confusion they cleared it up a long time ago.

Thanks.

That was twenty years ago.

It actually made sense as it was the third Final Fantasy game released in America. Releasing it as six when the three of the other five games had not been released wouldn't have made sense. However twenty years later should this quesiton really still be asked?

No, because this isn't 'murica-only service.

It's really amazing people still don't know about the US FF numbering, most people that were underinformed figured it out when we went from 2,3 on SNES to 7 on playstation in the US.

Original Releases
1 - NES - US and japan
2 - NES - Japan only
3 - NES - Japan only
4 - SNES - US (2)
5 - SNES - Japan only
6 - SNES - US (3)
7 - Playstation - US got this and the rest 7-14 in order

This is confusing, If you are a fan of FF then you know that FF6 is FF6 because it's been that way for nearly 20 years.

If you are new to FF then you know FF6 as FF6 because you weren't around for the NES version of the game and you only know FF6 as FF6.

So if people who follow FF understand that FF6 is FF6
and if people who are new to FF understand FF6 is FF6

Who are these confused people?

Stupid Americans... who else could be?

I mean you really have to be dumb if you don't know that steam release is not FF6 (screens, google, numerous threads point out that is not Kefka's Final).
