How to Unlock Onion Knight

Just to clear this up for people. You unlock the Onion Knight class after completing 25% of the bestiary. You'll get a message from Topapa, which you can see when speaking to a moogle when in a town. He'll tell you to come back to Ur and you'll have to do a short quest which will unlock the class. The message is titled, The Children are in Trouble.

You need Arc or Luneth in the top character slot in order for the message to appear.

You should have, what moogle did you talk to to check the mail? If it was the one in Ur, then try a different one. You should get the message after getting 25%, I got it immediately after.

Once you reach 25% of the Bestiary, it'll unlock a new message in Mognet which will read "The children have not returned from their exploration" ... once you've read that message, head back to Ur village and speak to the elder, then exit the village and head to the north cave... two screens in you'll have to fight 3 Bombs, then you'll unlock The Onion Kinght class

Oh, this might be it. You need Arc or Luneth in the top character slot, so they're the active character moving around for the message to appear.

Also, the messages you recieve from the moogle change depending upon who is in the first character slot.

edit: Gah, I got beaten. Well, still helps to know that the other characters will also get different letters as well, as they open up other side-quests along the way.

I got the message with Refia in the top slot. I don't know how much of the bestiary I've completed. Where can I see that?


EDIT: ... on second thought, although Refia is in the top slot, she's dead. Luneth is in the second slot. Maybe I wouldnt' have gotten the message if she wasn't dead.

OK So for those of you who were as stuck as I was in figuring out how to get this class.

1. OP was right, after 25% you can get it (after beating Gustco for most people).
2. Arc or Luneth must be in the 1st slot.
3. In order to get the letter, you must go to the Dwarven Hollows (the island to the northeast of Tower of Omen) and speak with the Mog there as Arc or Luneth, I tried every other town and this was the only place to allow me to recieve it.
4. Return to Ur and complete the sidequest!

Alright, I just switched to Luneth, and I immediately received the message. It does NOT work with Arc. People who are saying it does are posting misinformation.

For me, it only showed up with Luneth in the front, not Arc. So remember to try both

Same happened to me. Perharps it is necessary to check the moguri at least once with Luneth in order to unlock Topapa messages and then the quest's message can be obtanied both with Arc and Luneth?
