Don't understand final boss, plz help

Ive been following a guide.

im like 65, everything has been easy.

IM up to final boss, NOT THE VERSION YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO DIE TO,

the actual final boss. have 4 ribbons on.

the boss casts partical beam and does 9999 damage to all my chars in round 1

WTF? im level 65, i grinded a lot. everything was easy.... this makes no sense.

NVM, didn't realize had to release warriors of dark in the guide i was using

Yeah. Fighting the other bosses in the area to weaken the final boss is optional in the NES version (and pixel remaster?) but it is mandatory in the 3D version. You'll get instakilled in an unwinnable fight if you don't unseal all four warriors of darkness.
