Bahamut 1st encounter, is it actually winnable without hacks?
Sadly, not a lot of information on this topic since you're intended to flee. And In the original non-3D version of the fight is flat out impossible since he heals every turn. No such mechanic in the DS version though.

I know cheating to win is technically possible and still just treats the encounter as a flee. Can't say whether the fight is doable legit or not though. And I want to find out. You can definitely tank Bahamut just fine after a certain point of grinding. He hits for like 300 in the back row and you heal well over that on just one cure or high potion. The real issue is so far is damaging him. I don't know if you can ever surpass his defense on the first encounter. Magic does 0 generally and most physical attacks deal 1, and only the monk's retaliate does 2 damage so far among what I've tested.

It's impossible unless use bugs. :Froglet:

The first way: You can multiply Elixirs infinitely while the battle with Bahamut. You only have to care about not to die using this bug, by and by you will defeat them. As a side note, the rough estimate of time needed is over 700 hours. Of course, you cannot close the game during it.

Another way: Advance the story and strengthen enough to beat Bahamut then make intentionally happen the bug that resets all progress and then re-fight them. This one can achieve with about 10 minutes only.

Here is a movie that beat them using "Another way".

Kind of interesting requiem can actually hurt Bahamut during the first encounter when everything else seems to be reduced to 0 or 1 (or rarely 2 if damage is doubled) damage. Also weird that Luneth has 9999 HP too since I believe that might take RNG manipulation to reach with lvl 99. But all in all thanks for the info.

I tried using Black Belt maxed out (character & Job level 99) before, but I was able to give 1 damage only. Bahamut's HP is enormous (999999). Also, you cannot completely prevent received damages because the defense value of every armor that is obtainable before this fight is insufficient to protect you from their attack. Therefore, any items for recovering HP will always run out on the way no matter how many ones you have.
This is the reason why to beat them is impossible without using bugs. :Froglet:

To achieve 9999 HP is not hard as long as you have a patience. Only have to select a good gain continuously.
