[Solved] How to fast-forward.
So, you've been wanting to fast-forward, like in emulators, or in the FF8 PC release? Well, I've cracked how to do it. I would've made a guide, but I don't actually own FF3, and my friend won't let me make the guide on his account.

The problem:
Final Fantasy 3 runs in 2 separate processes that are both required for it to function. The first is the launcher, and the second is the game proper. Why? Not sure. Perhaps the launcher is emulating it, rather than actually running it. One way or the other, it makes it seem impossible to speed it up. Even using a speedhack won't make the game go faster.

The solution:
Double speedhack. If you use CheatEngine [www.cheatengine.org] to speed hack the launcher, and MHS [memoryhacking.com] to speed hack the game itself, it will cause the gameplay to speed up. I've only been able to get it to go 3x normal speed, which is enough to make boring late-game job grinding bearable.

Note: DO NOT USE THIS SOFTWARE IN ONLINE GAMES. You WILL be caught, and you WILL be VAC banned. However, offline, single-player games aren't tracked by VAC, so it's all for fun. Having the software on your computer isn't a problem for online games, as long as you don't use the software to hack the online game.

Clarify what you mean by online games, as in multiplayer kind of deal or playing the game and having an internet connection?

Most games don't care if you cheat. So, for example, nothing is going to happen if you are cheating while playing Viscera Cleanup Detail, even if you are fully online. However, if you cheat playing Overwatch, Dota, TF2, MMOs, CS:GO, etc. ... in those cases, you are really likely to be banned, and many of the games have it built right in to catch even inobvious cheating.

You can be online on steam playing FF3, and nobody is watching for that. You'll never get "caught" because nobody cares. Just be sure to fully close the software before getting into a game that has any online elements, especially games that advertise VAC or other cheat-controlling features.

Google translate says:
"You could not use the tricks you'd not eaten ban aq"

Nobody will get banned for hacking FF3. People can use software to modify games they're playing just for fun. It's only problematic when they mess up the gaming experiences of others.

To be safe, just fully close the software when you're done playing FF3.

Thank you for the hint regarding MHS, it's working for me.
CheatEngine is not required, at least on my side it isn't.

Step-by-step guide how to accelerate the ingame speed:
  1. Download MHS6.1 from memoryhacking.com
  2. Open MHS.exe
  3. Open the Final Fantasy III Launcher
  4. Start Final Fantasy III through the launcher
  5. In MHS go to "File" -> "Open Process"
  6. Search for "FF3_Win32.exe" and press "Ok"
  7. In MHS go to "Tools" -> "Speed Hack"
  8. Enter as Numerator "10" and as Denominator "1" (10/1 = 1000% Speed)
  9. Press "OK", now switch back to the running game. The game should be running way faster than before. It depends on your hardware how fast you can go. I'm playing on a highend machine, therefore 1000% Speed is working fine for me. If not, you should try 200% (2/1) and go up step by step.

Some audio glitches could occur as the game plays faster than the audio (audio is played in normal speed).

This makes it way easier to grind.

Just for future - It is against Steam terms of service to discuss this stuff in the forums. After a couple few warnings, it is possible for steam to ban your account.

You better read the fine lines in those ToS agreements you skip over. It is stated in 2 different spots.

The ToS doesn't say that you can't talk about how to play games at fast speeds. You're misinterpreting/extending the meaning of it.
The guidelines DO say that you should not try to moderate the forums, but rather, report posts that you disagree with.
So... like I said, citation or it didn't happen.

You are using a piece of software banned by steam lol. There is nothing to misinterpret.

This. It is your own personal shame and disgrace to bear.

Nope. You keep making claims with no basis. Burden of proof is on you, buddy. You refuse to say exactly where you're getting all this. Paste the text and weblink to the original location of the text that you're getting this from, because I'm aware of the ToS and online behavior requirements, and the only statement related to cheat engine is with regard to VAC.
If you don't actually cite a source, I'm done with this nonsense conversation. It's like you're telling me that I died five years ago (this post was from 2016) and I'm like, "No, I'm right here."

Dude, it already in front of your face. I cant be any more clear. open your steam app and look for the ToS. Its not me needingf to worry. If you use that engine its on you to learn the pros and cons. I just gave you a hint. Run with it. As much as you type here, you coulda just googled ToS from steam. Lazy people cant do their own research.

As I already stated, the ToS does not state what you've suggested. You've failed to demonstrate that it does. This conversation is over, and that's on you.
