multiple controllers don't work

Hey, when I connect multiple controllers i.e. more than one I can't control them, beyond the first player where I can choose a character and wait for the others to connect. I never had such an issue as I always play local party games and I am sure that the other controllers are functioning correctly and that steam input is on. please, I need a fix as it is unplayable rn.

Go into options > controls and choose auto config
