P.S Also agree that the game is fantastic.
Even with Hamachi, I haven't been successful.
Hamachi seems to be hit or miss with this game.
and enter the first line (the other lines are unrelated) as I have, but with your computer's assigned address instead of 192.168.0.10 it should work fine. The key is to forward port 9995 from your router to port 9995 on your actual computer.
I've tried helping people with this, with some success, and it seems the part where most people run into trouble is entering the incorrect IP address. Many enter the address that they see in the lobby they create. This is not correct. That is the IP address of your cable modem. You need the address that your router assigns your computer.
Navigate to a page like this http://imgur.com/pIiU2D3.jpg where you can see a list of assigned IP addresses in your router and find the one that assigned to the computer you play Hammerwatch on.
You can also find your assigned address pressing windows key + R , typing cmd, hitting enter, typing netstat, hitting enter and looking at the column "local address":

Hopefully this helps you or anyone else. Apparently future updates will bring about changes that make it so port forwarding is no longer required. Until then, try this and ask me if you encounter trouble trying this.
I appreciate your assistance, however all of what you described below was already tried rigorously. I used my specific PC address, etc.
When trying this again several days after my original post, connecting to my friend's IP still wasn't working, but on a whim I tried his Hamachi IP address and it worked.
Bottom line, sometimes the game just doesn't want to cooperate. I can sympathize and do not bear any ill opinions for it.
When it works, it's fantastic, when it doesn't, oh well, we'll play something else.
Thanks,
Keverisch
Only time you can join someone is if they have a player count listed and haven't started the game. Hopefully in the future upgrades it will be easier to tell if a game has started.
We also did port forwarding, set a static IP for the server, updated the router and tried both wired and wireless connections.
Hope this helps.
