Ink engine not working in demo?

Started a new run and as my first little bonus the game offered me the ink engine, so I took that, but it doesn't seem to be working.

As far as I can tell, this setup mirrors what it shows when I hover over the engine itself in the toolbar, but the engine is clearly not functioning.

have you unlocked the ability for the engine to use red ink? anything other color then black ink requires a tech point.

I did unlock that as soon as I was able, thinking that might be the problem, but it still wouldn't work after that.

i didn't notice before, but the oil pipe is not actually connected to the engine in you screenshot.

Hmm... I don't know how to make it connect then. The preview you get when hovering over the item on the toolbar shows the pipe just terminating next to the engine just like I had it, and nothing I did would let me drag the pipe further onto the engine so...

Please try dragging the pipe towards the "ink Engine."
That should connect it.

The pipes are more difficult to operate than the conveyor.We will improve this.

I was able to make it work finally, I'm not sure what I was doing wrong before, I swear I had tried dragging the pipes all the way into the engine.

What is the Ink engine supposed to do?

u need to drag 1 more piping section from the last one beside engine toward engine in order to connect it. once connected, it will show a running engine animation

but i feel it doesnt do anything, i tried red ink as well, no different compare to the one without engine.
maybe it need that 30% buff to show more differences. but i give up XD
