How to beat the spider queen?
So I just got the game. And I got to the point of fighting the spider queen. Yes, I did run around town, looted some chests and bought better equipment. But I can't beat that damn ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spider. All my partymembers miss 90% of the time. And when the hit, that ♥♥♥♥♥ ass spider queen blocks. It's just not do-able.

She took awhile using the default party, but didn't prove too challenging. The free mage, barbarian, and defender all start with the abilities to debuff her armor value. The ranger is capable of curing poison, but she has to buy the spell first. It's not a powergaming party, but it's proven well rounded enough for my liking. Boss encounters should prove fairly challenging and the Spider Queen is just a warm up. If you gimped yourself with a bad party makeup or poor starting abilities and spells, she and a good number of encounters in the game will prove frustrating.

Depends when you take her. The whole level is optional, and you can access it pretty early, so you might just be out-leveled. Dark magic can help to debuff her.

Just curious how she is optional. I've explored the city fairly thoroughly and there doesn't seem to be an option to leave the city before clearing the well.

I can debuff her and all. But my own party members can even hit her, it's like the spider queen has a 95% evasion rate. Don't get me wrong, I like though boss battles. But this is just stupid.

My party setup was a Dwarven Tank (not familiar with the names yet), Human Crusader, Elven Ranger, Human Mage.

Only my mage has a 100% hit rate so far with only basic attacks, but they only deal 3-4 dmg. So, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥...

You need to understand how your party works first. It has only 1 competent melee fighter: the ranger. Each character has only 2 hands, you cannot carry 2 shields and expect the same offensive power as a real bashing party using both hands to carry weapons.

Your party has 2 damage dealers: the mage and the ranger. This is not much, so you cannot afford to waste your mage's actions hitting with his focus. He needs to be casting spells all the time. The crusader is there to keep the other 2 alive, and the defender just sucks against bosses since the good warfare abilities don't work. He can at least use Unstoppable Assault to guarantee hits.

You can leave any time by coming back through the entrance, or taking the exit to Seahaven at level 2, or the exit to Portmeyron Castle at level 4. The whole 3rd level is optional. You don't even need to get through it to reach Level 4, since there is a direct entrance from Level 2.

uh... he's talking about the dungeon down the well in Sorpigal. and yes, you must kill the spider queen to finish the first quest.

sounds like you're talking about the lost city, and the crystal spider?

Had the same problem with the boss at the lighthouse. Damn party just kept missing or getting blocked. Left, did some other stuff to build up my experience and went back. Still had a hard time but finally beat the bastard. It took about 10 tries to finally win but it was fun.

you'll have to chug 5-10 potions or so but it's doable
this is one thirsty game
the lighthouse boss is chaotic but move towards middle when possible and need to be at least lvl 8 or so. do the Thieves Den first.
