Secret door symbols?
Is there a stat requirement for opening secret doors? I'm constantly running into these doors with the two gears that I can't open without murdering my characters in the attempt. To make it worst most of the secret doors out there are of the gears variety and it's really ♥♥♥♥ing me off. What are they and what I can I do to open them?

Choose the person in your party with the highest might to break through the walls. There is usually a chest behind the wall.

Select the character with the highest appropriate attribute to open the secret door:

Cracks = Might
Gears = Perception
"Keyhole" = Magic

Use shrines, buffs and gear if your attribute is not high enough to open it and, even then, you may have to try multiple times to succeed

the magic barrier even tells you so. the other two i always confuse. the spell eagle eye (air) grants extra perception.

Since my party doesn't have an archer the perception check is a huge pain. Not even the Eagle Eye buff helps since that stats goes neglected in my party.

After doing a bit of reading, the best answer was, "save & load fest". (There is a body of opinion that more design thought needs to go into this area.) I personally don't like a random role to determine how far I have to travel or how much money I have to spend when I can just say fu, and reload.

The randomness is very limited and the thresholds aren't very high, though. Once I started putting points into Perception on my Ranger or Scout, I've never had to use more than one try to access any secret doors.
In fact I've never realized that you could get a lucky shot by retrying/reloading.

I have a Ork with a Perception Value of From 25 onto 29 who opened them all regardless of symbol on doors, if you are lower buff up with spells armour etc, hope this is some help,

you can also cheese your way through
just cast regen and alternate btw the four members to open it. takes a while but much faster than save/load.

It is possible to open all of the Perception-based doors without spending a point on Perception though it requires use of buffs and items to compensate for low attribute scores. I imagine the same is true with Might and Magic but I cannot imagine a successful party with no characters that have invested in either of those attributes.

The Sybols are I believe, Gears= Perception, Crack = Strength, Magic Circle ( Keyhole ) = Magic.
