Killing Erebos
I could use some help here. What's the strategy to kill him? Every time I hit him, he heals everything back up.

Listen to your characters and look for a different method to kill him. . .

ps. Sometimes you can get lucky and kill him in combat but the game is not *supposed* to end that way.

All they do is grunt when they get their arse kicked. What are they supposed to say?
DiceWrangler Feb 25, 2014 @ 3:13pm
"This isn't working, there MUST be another way!"

In other words, just hurt him enough to heal-up and leave you alone for a few rounds then take advantage of his absence to move to a room or platform where he will not bother you. Read the scattered notes on the ground and collect the parts of the divine machine (that look like crossed swords) then you find your answer.

Yeah, but as I'm doing that, he beats the f*** out of me.

It took me several tries. Stay on the conservative/defensive side. You'll end up fighting him and driving him off like 10+ times before you get all the parts and place them in the right spot. Rember he's the last boss, so no reason not to use your 200+ mana/healing potions that you brought with you (at least that's what I had).

Ok,
I wish I had more poison ward rings etc...

I REALLY hated his poison attack, two rounds to unpoison my whole group or dispel magic and lose all my buffs. I'd rather face him up close.
DiceWrangler Feb 25, 2014 @ 3:48pm
If you do not have poison immunity items, just heal-up enough to reach a safe place where you can cure the poison. Waiting a round for every character that is poisoned to cast Cure Poison on will just give Erebos enough time to re-appear. It is better to just take the damage and keep moving to someplace safe(r).

Last time I fought this battle, most of my characters had Poison immunity items so I just powered through it. The only real danger was Erebos getting lucky with a critical magical hit from Dark Nova. Wearing multiple Resist All magic items, casting Arcane or Darkness Ward plus Liquid Membrane and having Expert+ Arcane Discipline mitigated the risk of a magical critical hit (burst damage) taking-out a character.

Now that Faceless can cast Dark Nova they might be more of a danger than Erebos especially when 3 Faceless -- and Erebos -- appear at once.

I actually think I can not finish the game with 4 Shield Guards. :(
I just don't have the buffs; and all the ambushes are really sh*ty.
DiceWrangler Feb 25, 2014 @ 6:34pm
I would think that 4 Shield Guards would be the most difficult party to complete the game with due to inflicting minimal damage against regenerating enemies.

Sometimes they hit for over 225 dmg points. I'm able to drop every enemy very fast, but I take too much damage from him to be able to recover.

I just started "again" with 4 Freemages! :)
sjpaladin Feb 27, 2014 @ 3:57pm
Just a suggestion, but maybe starting with 4 of anything is a bad idea when you are just trying to beat the game. If you want to unlock a special achievement or want a challenge, I understand, but I would never consider a group with more than 2 of one class to be remotely "optimal" or even fun (strictly my opinion though).

And in my game (defender, crusader, druid, freemage), the freemage was knocked out at least 4 times more often than any other character. They are good for utility spells, but even their damage spells are not amazing (I hear runepriest are much better for damage). The only thing my freemage did well was good damage with crits on magic focus near the end of the game after GMing. Prior to that she was responsible for wards (esp dark and arcane), and a backup healer (regen when the druid was busy drinking potions, unconscious, or otherwise not able to do his job), and identifying, but most mages can fill that role quite well.

There are poison immunity items in the game?! I have yet to see them....

I ran out of supplies, mana potions and almost completely out of regen potions as well. Took so many attempts to finish those last 4 faceless, needed rnjesus to not kill or feeble mind the wrong character at the wrong time... Strategy was to charge the elite one on the sunstone platform, finish him off hand to hand, then duck around the sunstone to break the others line of fire. The first few rounds trying to kill the first elite though...
