Four-mage playthrough?
I am curious what people think about a possible 4-mage playthrough? I think after my current playthrough (or perhaps in parallel on my other machine since there is no cloud sync), I would really like to try it. A few questions:

1) What classes would you suggest? I am thinking at least one Runepriest and probably 2 Freemages (each specializing in different areas), but who should be the 4th? Another Runepriest, or one of the other mage classes? Or should I just take one of each mage class and race?

2) What do you do to absorb insane amounts of damage? Do you increase health by at least a point every level-up on all your mages, or is there some other way?

Just curious how one would make such a playthrough work...I would hate to get halfway through and have to start over.

Four-mage party makes the game piss easy. Easier than it already is.

Now, four-warriors... thats another story. :p

Well played every character to endgame on warrior with all the might/hybrid/magic achievements and some tips from my runs:

Magic Menagerie

1 Freemage is good utility, purge spell is excellent to dispel liquid membrane and regeneration.

Casters are your worst enemies early/midgame. It's more mana efficient to melee them because of high resists they pack. Most also come with status debuffs and purge, stripping you of your buffs and feeblemind/paralyzing you.

Act 1 is the most challenging phase. Make intelligent choices with gust of wind and entangles to get by. You do not want something like Moonsilk Spiders in melee range. Ranged attack do decent damage on starter mobs and saves mana. Rest after every battle if you must. Supplies are cheaper than pots.

Designate specific character(s) to dump perception and might pots/liquids. With Inner fire and Eagle Eye you can pass all stat checks on secret walls. It may take a few tries but I've never ran into a door I couldn't open.

Spell selection is very important so choose wisely. In the early game, you won't have much gold and it gets very expensive buying all the spells on everyone. Prepare for dungeons. Ice ward for Naga tower, Cure Poison for bandits, Fire ward for Rogue Mages, Burning Determination/Earth ward for the Earth elemental lord fight, etc. Make sure to skill up to the rank required before visiting those areas. Be prepared.

Liquid membrane is ridiculous.

Light spells get less useful as the game goes. Wouldn't level it past master for the early/mid game. With liquid membrane and regeneration, you can get by with just health pots and resurrection scrolls in a pinch tbh.

As soon as you hit Seahaven, you can rush to The Crag for access to better spells. Shamans are very difficult at this stage because they cast regeneration so purge is a must if you want to rush it. Have pots. Makes for an easier playthrough if you can manage it.

My party consists of 4 Freemages with full magic stats

#1 Freemage: Prime/Water/Fire -
#2 Freemage: Light/Fire
#3 Freemage: Air/Fire/Earth
#4 Freemage: Fire/Dark

Mysticism is a must due to the fact that your spirit is low and your mana quite hectic
Also arcane discipline is a skill worth its points (though you will be able to buff your self with all kind of wards)
Last but not least ... Arcane Focus... the sooner you get this beauty to grandmastery the better.

I run with 1 of each no fire dark or water specialisations, I use the relic big shield on runepriest and the small shield on shaman for 100 armour, I buy arcane of protection gear to max resists and armour on the rest of my guys, game was easy.
