Might & Magic X - Legacy

Might & Magic X - Legacy

Useful files to edit, aka modding for free
I got annoyed with my gear breaking and then having to run out of a dungeon and all the way back to town to repair. I dug around and found some handy files to edit. In the directory:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Might & Magic X - Legacy\Might and Magic X Legacy_Data\StreamingAssets\StaticData

You'll find a bunch of .csv files. If you edit MeleeWeapons.csv there's a column named "BreakChance": set them all to 0.0 to prevent breaking. Same thing for Armor.csv.

Want cheaper potions? Edit potions.csv and change the "Price" field. You can also change the "Value" field to say increase the amount of mana a mana pot gives you, etc. I haven't played around with the other files yet, but it looks like all it requires is to save the file and restart the game. I'd back anything up that you change just in case.

I'm using it right now. In fact, I just edited CharacterSpellsStaticData.csv to lower my mana cost of certain spells (I gimped my party and am too far in to want to respec). If you make the change and restart the game it should instantly show you the changes in the tooltips/item prices/etc. No issues for me so far, but again, BACK UP YOUR FILES FIRST. If you make a mistake or anything goes wrong, just restore them.

I thought everyone knew this already ;) Was mentioned on release day for people who were getting stuck..

Still good to put it out there again for anyone who needs it..though personally I don't use it. Used it once for testing performance issues but not in my actual playthrough.

Yeah posts are moving fast for sure.

Sticky would be good. Wish someone would sticky the performance topic too so maybe ubi would see it (yeah right)

they probably have CS staff monitoring forums if they're like any other decent sized game company out there. At least from my experience in the industry. That stuff usually takes time to analyze, fix and then test.

True, but it's Ubisoft..they don't hvae a very good track record... I don't expect many patches for this game.. (if any tbh)

it'll depend on how much it makes. A high grossing game will necessitate patches so they can sell more DLC and get more users. But ya, normally I agree w/ you when it comes to UbiSoft

Wow, such pessimism. Much edgy.

They already said in the AMA that they are working on a patch + watching forums for first few weeks to see most pressing issues to also try and address. They specifically mentioned balancing as something their designers were unhappy with.

Is why I don't buy Ubisoft games..just had to have this one..I am enjoying it but the performance sucks and I rather not have paid for it.

I agree the need of this gettin sticky.
in some rare situations i would use it instead, givin up in a situation or throwing the game into a corner to proceed.

I found it stupid "Windsword" cant even be GM in sword, or ANY weapon for that matter, so with this i added in the value of 6 under the GM tab for Mercunary and it worked, i also used the free spreadsheet program "Apache Open Office" so i could easily do that, i think it was a silly oversight on the devs part but hey thats why the devs give you day 1 moding tools, because outside of building a world developers are clueless on things like balance

I edited one of the excel files and now I am not able to save at all. Any suggestions?

Right click the game in your library and select properties then go to the local files tab and press "verify integrity of files." It will repair your installation and reset all the game files back to their default values (won't delete your saves).

Sorry, I don't what you mean by "library"?
