Secret Doors
Anyone figure out how you identify secret doors? I went where one should be and there is no highlight or option to try it. Is it dependant on perception? Do I need a spell? Or is it bugged?

To be clear it is the one on the first level of the lighthouse.

Either have Rosalina in your party as your henchmen, as she'll call them out for you, or have a party member with dark magic cast "whispering shadows" constantly.

She only seems to be available for the duration of the bandit quest, though, so you'll have to rely on the spell for the rest of the game, unless there's another NPC you come across that does it for you.

I have yet to find any secret doors on the world map or in towns - only in dungeons so far.

Far as I can tell, perception doesn't do ♥♥♥♥♥ (have it at 20 on one character, and without the spell or NPC, the party won't see the secret door).

Thanks, link was helpfull. I was rather confused. But some people seem to be able to identify them without using a spell? I don't get it. Confirmation would be nice. Unless it is a difference between difficulties.

Blessing of Malassa gives you secret detection, so does Spike the hound hireling

If hidden doors can be detected without the use of spells/followers (StephenG mentions finding all secrets so far with 35 perception) then it looks like there's a bug.

I haven't been able to find secret doors since the Den of Thieves even though I have a ranged character with 50+ perception. I went back to the Lighthouse and still couldn't detect those secret doors... went and grabbed the dog and found them without issue.

Either you can't find secret doors through stats or there is a bug that can make it so you can't.

i dont think perception has anything to do with finding hidden doors. it does however affect your ability to open certain secret doors. they have various stat checks to open them. like high might stat for breaking open walls or high magic for dispelling illusion walls.

i believe there are two secrets in the light house. one on first floor and second one on 3rd floor. just run around with dark whispers spell active ( dark magic level 1 spell ) and have your volume up.

if you come close to a secret door, somebody will say something along the lines of "there is something here." then just search the doors to your left/right and you'll see the glowing secret wall.

remember if you passed a secret wall already and somebody in your party already mentioned something about the secret wall but you just didn't notice them saying it, then they wil not say it again until you leave the area and come back. so i advise you to just exit the area once you are complete with it and just comb through it again with the dark whispers spell active if you want to find all secrets.

that's not accurate. They repeatedly say their bark about the secret door every 2-3 times you walk by it, EVEN if you have already openned the door. Also, if you have a detection effect active, you don't need to party to tell you are near a secret door, you can still see the symbol on the wall (the gears, the crack, or the magic symbol). While looking for secret doors, you are better off hugging the walls while facing them (easy with sidestepping).
The perception doors can be openned with a powerful enough eagle eye spell boost, although I had to try some of them 10-20 times when my air magic was only expert. Never had issue with strength or magic doors (but then again I put 90% of my points in strength or magic).
