Lol yeah I had the problem also with skills I wanted before start the DLC. But when I realized the problem, I could do it but it was on the edge.

When you finish Act 4 you end in main area of Karthal, so at this moment you must learn all mastery levels you want before leave, because you can't enter back in this area before a long first part of the DLC.

The other area of Karthal is still accessible from sewers from outside. If you hadn't already open all possible paths in the sewers, take care do it, but I don't remember the exact chaining. The point is to open the path in sewers from outside to lowtown of Karthal (the secondary area of Karthal I don't know the name).

This should allow you learn all skills you want with two restrictions. If you want increase a same skill twice and GM skill is in Karthal center, I think, there's only GM spear, not sure. The second restriction is more severe, if you had more quests/dungeons to do and level up to learn a skill in Karthal center, then you are screw up.

It's very strange how this DLC has many totally weird design choices, for which it's very difficult to find any explanation of the design choice. And the start of the DLC is very bad and waste what would be a great final, you end the main quest and are free do want you want until you choose continue with the DLC.

It smells the goal to make a long linear final including the DLC and more marking than the original final. But the DLC add nothing to this final, just an extension after it, and this trap design spoil the fun.

The DLC also abuse of long parts "slam door", a very stupid decision in its second part where you find many items and can't identify them or sell them if you don't have the unique right magic school allowing you do it yourself.

Seriuously im at the summer palace and its a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ storm once again...

Super high armor and dodge high multiple block for all ennemies even the pretoriens DODGE! and the elite sharpshooter block...(even my dwarf pathfinder and its 100 in perception miss half the time when he doesnt siimply get blocked...making my melee and long range grandmaster deal 30-45 damage per attack instead of 300-450 and thus totaly useless
EVEN MY ORC HUNTER WITH SPEAR GRANDMASTER CANT HIT BECAUSE OF ALL THE DOGING AND BLOCKING and when they touch the ennemy for a meager 150damages they heal themselves

ennemies hitting throught armor for over 300damages... thus even one shooting my gm heavy armor with gm stone kind 300hp paladin

Ennemeis that perma heal/purge themselve makign figt last an eternity making half the magic shool useless(darkness earth and pirmal)
ont he other side water is still op as hell and work reducign their damage tremandousy BUT I DONT WANT TO USE WATER MAGIC...

Yeah it's not easy. For me the toughest enemies was the new type of warrior "knight" that are sort of black. Where there was three of them ouch. Angels was also tough.

Against the "black knights" you really need use spells that break their armor, and lower their defenses. Earth magic have quite good spells for that. I also used the Warfare skill breaking armor. It also help to use spells that increase your skills.

And as they hit very hard you need use tactics to manage it. My team had Air spell wind push back, so when facing 3 black knights, to lower the pressure during a turn I was using one or two. But sleep could do the work. The Time stop spell can also work. And certainly more possibilities.

For most battles there are mix of enemies, play on it, try maneuvering so only one strong opponent face you and try let the two other live as long than you can and concentrate to kill the dangerous opponent. The weaker opponents facing will stop other stronger opponents if the back come and join. with this approach you can try fight the stronger opponents one per one, it's not always possible but there's many possibilities to use this approach.

Against the angels, there's a large place with a tough battle (only one angel in that battle), to the left there's a Light Crystal behind a secret wall. Take care to continue the DLC with this protection always activated it does help against the angels. And if you have a light protection spell, use it. You'll also find light protection scrolls, use them during the toughest "light" battles, typically one or two angels for example.

Otherwise if you can't manage them at long range, use the classic solution to have them closer. They use a pattern and the danger is a spell doing damage to the whole team. Well heal, buffers, regeneration, some potions, and if you ever face two (3 isn't possible) then if you have the wind push back spell use it a lot to combat only one at each turn.

If you are stuck in the large place tough battle, you could reload a save before the start of this part, and before start it, cumulate a lot of buffer spells and use a Beacon scroll to come back quickly and start this part of the DLC. If I remember well those buffers will last up to that battle, don't do the puzzle before, rest only spend a turn in the duration of those buffers.

Be ready for a long series of tough battles, so be sure you have a lot of potions, scrolls and other. I had cases quite on limit, and ended with some scrolls exhausted. For example in a combat 3 died, the survivor had only one resurrect scroll left. Ouch it's been a series of pure defense turns with many potions used to ensure the team back, res the character with res spell, have him use a full healing potion, use potion and buffer available and wait a turn when the character can cast safely the res spell and resurrected character also use a potion for full healing...

EDIT: and before start this part, check if you can cumulate more light resistance through some items, it will help.
