As it stands, UBISoft has killed off Heroes of Might and Magic, and Might and Magic, they don't care about these two franchises, and intentionally buried them.
While MMX purchasers are horrified by how they were treated, Ubisoft is also horrified by how they were treated by MMX purchasers. The Might and Magic franchise was mostly (up to VII or VIII) made by reputable manufacturers who treated their customers well and provided them with a high quality game that they stood behind including removing any blocking bugs rather than actually inserting new ones intentionally. Long term Might and Magic Fans were absolutely outraged by ill treatment which according to many of the other posts here what they objected to has become rather standard practices and common abuses by some manufacturers of primarily play station games.
Apparently play station owners were either oblivious, too young to know they were being abused, or at least were too apathetic to do anything material about it (like refuse to buy new games by the same manufacturers). By making a MIght and Magic game Ubisoft inherited a much more discerning and self-respecting group of players who instead of being oblivious, were immediately and acutely aware that they were abused.
The bottom line, at least IMHO, is that Ubisoft would not even consider touching MMXI with a ten foot pole. The only hope, again IMO, for a MMXI game, is if they sell the rights to the series to a different manufacturer who actually likes and cares about the Might and Magic series of games and customers, rather than hating them.
The best thing that can happen is that if someone makes a game that has the same core as might and magic and start a new franchise. Like how Igarashi made bloodstained after leaving konami, because konami doesn't make Castlevania games anymore.
WHile there are some good crawlers there days, they're not the same kind, it's either stuff like grimrock with a survival kind in a dungeon, or wizardry clones.
Something with the class promotion quests and skill system, is clearly missing. Otherwise people would modn't the hell out of M&M VI, VII, VIII in 2021 and try to merge them while adding new features just to extend the experience.
It's called Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Many of the posts made claiming that Ubisoft would not do anything to solve the problem due to long history of doing the same with other games was disturbing to read and discouraging. This game was the first for me. Not fixing the issues would be highly unethical, no matter how many times the same abuses were committed in the past.
However, it is (almost) never too late to do the right thing. If the artificial blockages are removed and at least the paid-for DLC is restored so the game can be played all the way through, including DLC, without missing keys or Griffen Masters refusing to fly inside the game, then I for one will be satisfied that Ubisoft has met their common-law obligations to those customers who honestly purchased this game.
Some of us may continue to have opinions about the wisdom or lack of inherent in such underhanded security methods, especially when they are poorly implemented and administered resulting in valid paying customers being blocked, but if the company meets its obligations for this game then the rest of the topics, at least here, are just discussion topics and are no longer valid reports of actual current customer abuse. As long as we get the complete and unblocked game we paid for, without needing to resort to the risks of outside patches. then the marketplace will take care of the rest of the wise or unwise security decisions and business practices and policies by the company and all other companies long term.
Actually an unblocked version of this game would be many times more valuable than the game was as originally (incompetently) sold, and I would recommend it for purchase by new customers. It is not a bad game even if I would like to see future Might and Magic games like XI based much more on Might and Magic 6-7 and possibly 8.
I agree with your point. I too like MMX alot. If Ubisoft can break MM then what is to say they won't do it to other titles, as these get older too? That's the issue as I see it -long term - and it's what made me hesitant to consider future titles from this company.
Far Cry and Assassins Creed are on their list of priorities, MM is not it seems (and that's due to sales/popularity). But... Complete and unblocked works for me! Better late than never. I was ready to use the crack but never got to it - now I will hold off for some time to see how this is resolved. Better that Ubisoft actually fix what they broke.
Then again. Often the community/fans often comes to the rescue. Lots of games like that which were "saved" by players/modders or improved on and kept alive.
And I would not mind a MM XI. Would be a shame to see this franchise perish. Replaying MM7, I just remembered what a great series this actually is.
but theres no magic in kcd. only might and... soap?

They talk about making a AAA game. Wonder if that means more like Skyrim than a party based dungeon crawler.
This is the type of thing I fear. Making a might and magic that is not might and magic is pointless. it's not like they still have arkane to make a dark messiah over again.
I would be fine with a spin off like dark messiah or crusader etc. but a might and magic XI should stay a first person party based dungeon crawler. There is nothing to be redefined, on the contrary there is everything to actually make it right, there hasn't been a top tier one since wizardry 8 (MMX had potential, but wasn't on the level of m&m IV, V VI and VII).
The fans already know what they want, we have a merge mod of m&m VI, VII, VIII with pretty much all of the crazy stuff a m&m fan would want (races, including monsters and undead, branching classes, tons of quests, dungeons and items), and the community around that mod is a serious and active one.
Ubisoft needs to thread carefully here and it's not starting great, becasue we again have a unkown studio doing an other m&m game, they've done that for 20 years now since heroes V. They so far only got 2 hit (dark messiah and heroes V), that's not a lot.
Hoping im wrong....
Even MM9 was kind of let-down, and the X, apart of graphics and cheeky riddles + funny secret "space ship", it was kind of blend. Not to mention the horrible Ubisoft gulag "security" that makes the life of honest paying players a nightmare.
