Enemy respawn time
Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. I just wanted to ask the vets if the enemies/monsters in an area will ever respawn after some time. If the answer is yes, how long before they respawn?

I ask this because I miss the possibility to level up my party a bit more before going into higher level areas. Most of the other (sandbox) fantasy RPGs allow you to do that. I know this could be considered (kind of) like an exploit, but IMO it's just a more "prudent" way of playing the game. Anyone? Thanks :-]

Like Might and Magic IV & V, (I don't remember about III.) monsters do not respawn in this game. It really puts a premium on efficiently assigning skill points.

I definitely remember playing some M&M with long time respawns (was the one where you had to rebuild your castle maybe?). Anyway thanks for the reply. :-]

M&M 1 through 5 DID have respawn. This means that Legacy is broken and can only be played in a particular order... and that the Lv 40 achievement isn't possible. I'm gonna play it anyway, but far as I'm concerned this just doesn't make sense.
Thanks for confirming... it was such a long time ago that, honestly, I wasn't sure anymore.

Anyway, after this post I played this game for long hours and could reach very far into the game. Even if I never got to the end, I had a lot of hours of fun M&M gameplay. All in all it was well spent money.. :HappyMask:

Being able to get far into a game, and spending hours on it, is not a good thing if you can't actually finish it. In fact, that's worse than realizing you don't like it immediately because it's not only stolen your money, but your time as well.

There needs to be respawn, even if it's months of game time to happen.

I can agree on the respawn thing, but I disagree that for people like me, who don't have time to always finish games, it's the same, since I could still enjoy the game for the time I have played.

But I get why you're upset on this matter.

It would be more accurate to say that you do have the time, but you chose to give up on this game and play other games instead.

Fair enough. That's because after scratching the M&M itch I was done, and I like other games more.

No respawns is a good think. Leveling on respawns is cheating. Check the ultimate guide
http://mmxl.wz.cz/mmxl to finish the game. Even level 40 can be reached with the Mod!

And who says that? You? The devs? The League for Fair Gameplay?
And by the way, after I posted the OP I did level up enough and got over the "obstacle".

I was just asking because it's a common tactics in many Party based CRPGs to have the possibility to ease into higher level areas by building up your party first.

Just my opinion. I have written a guide detailing the order in which the areas could be visited, so that you don't run into something too difficult too early. It's under the "World" menu.
Nice. Didn't know that.

I think they will have a hard time to design how to respawn monsters , since some monsters are plot-linkned , it is not simply easy as adding area respawn time . which monsters to respawn and which do not respawn? If you defeat the black guard but they respawn some months later? how strange . You cleared an area of Elemental forge, but some time later the boss respawn as you have never pass the test?

Good point. However, other similar games have done this in the past, so I don't think it would be impossible for the devs to figure out the right way to do it (if they thought this was something reasonable to add to the game).

Monsters respawn in MM4 and 5 if you don't destroy their lairs.

Which is a great approach, in my opinion. You can have respawning enemies if you want. And if you don't, you just destroy their lairs and get a nice XP boost, but enemies won't respawn in that area anymore.
