disappointed but i really wanted to like this game
for all the colors, quirk and style the demo was oddly boring for me
it looks like this game is going for a combo of melee oriented metroid game play with rick and morty inspiration which is great but not really delivering on either front imo.
you basically run around finding non-respawning enemies you get ONE chance to kill 'perfectly' (by not repeating attacks while finishing them, which is the best mechanic in the game, allowing for a little flashy game play).
but with perfect kills you get to harvest the alien's colorful alien organs to.. eat raw? which give XP to increase several specific stats depending on the enemy that dropped it, the right levels in specific stats granting up to 6 new abilities in the demo.

it is never explained why our main character enjoys chewing raw alien organs.

Sleep in a Saiyan travel pod to save and level.
all these sound fun on paper but idk if this game is trying to be the next dead cels or hollow knight, its reaching in that direction.
game is easy and very colorful with simple but not very forgiving gameplay as far as getting perfect XP organs from enemies every time.

side note:
if this game was just about candy then the colors and eating would all fit together nicely. who knows maybe they are candy aliens?

I don't know where you've got the idea that this is a Rick and Morty style game. You want that - you play High on Life.

This is a metroidvania\gardening hybrid. Closest incorrect analogue would probably be Death Stranding.
disappointing either way, but you have fun collecting those alien testicle seeds.
Niklas Åkerblad's style is not inspired in Rick & Morty. It's clearly inspired by artists like Moebius, and in the psychedelic art styles from the 70s such as Fantastic Planet, The Time Masters and Yellow Submarine.
as are the psychedelic color schemes used in rick n morty. anyway read the rest of the review i barely mentioned that show.
i said that you sleep in a saiyan pod but no one's talking about DBZ. weird.
Saiyan pods are inspired by Vostok 1's capsule.
Where did you get the feeling Rick and Morty inspired this, lmao? What?
All the bright colors, the space themes, the randomly high levels gore in an otherwise pleasant environment.
clearly you've never even played this game.
Go eat a few alien testicles and get sucked into a writhing maggot full of teeth and then you will understand. all of which happens in game.
