Both PGA 2k series and EA PGA Tour are decent choices with those (rather heavy) caveats.
*However*
For pure fun I love Super Video Golf

And Golfinite

Also, GOWF is looking interesting.

Great fun.
2k25 if you are a competitive person lol.
youre joking right ? this game isnt nearly as hard as 2019 not even close.
this game is an arcade version of golf not a true simulation and its not trying to be,
its a gotcha money grab for the xbox controller wanna be golfers who have never heard of walter hagen or byron nelson and thats fine .
Competition with guys who were getting minus 22 on a single round. That was hard.
Getting 15 or 16 under myself on the highest difficulty wasn't hard at all.
Getting 15 under in a round. Playing what felt like near perfect golf - and still losing by 6 or 7 shots. that was hard.
2K19 single player, the mechanics Vs real golf - It was stupid easy.
But people got very very very good at it. And that made competing against them really hard.
Winning offline tournaments was ridiculous. My best 72 holes was better than 60 under and included about 8 eagles
But the best few hundred players just never failed. Getting that many eagles per round never mind per tournament.
TBH it ruined the game. Turned every official course into a pitch and putt. Then towards the end, when everyone had levelled up and got all the perks and what-not for the whole first year. There were those "no-lifers" driving 380 on the flat and close to 500 with a good wind and a bit of a slope.
Driving the green on a par 5? Yup. It happened.
The skill was in reading shot properly at that level. Not playing the shot
But 2K19 was ridiculously easy. It was the fact that it was so easy that made it so hard to compete against the best players who just never - ever failed to hit the perfect shot with the perfect read/
also anyone using a controller to play video games doesnt need to comment on how difficult any game is .
and winning the fed ex cup on difficult setting WITH MASTER CLUBS and mouse /keyboard was never easy on 2019 and still isnt .
Then towards the end, when everyone had levelled up and got all the perks and what-not for the whole first year. ---------
and what perks are you talking about ? i never got anything in the game other than the master clubs and they just make the game harder. you must have been playing some other game i guess.
*YOU'RE* joking, right? Are you playing on Pro or harder with EvoSwing?
If you're seriously finding the game that way extremely easy, then my hat's off to you. I've been playing on and off for a couple of weeks now with a *very* high-end gaming PC and a super accurate mouse and I'm still ecstatic if I can score a birdie on any hole, with the very rare eagle.
Slowly, my skills and those of MyPlayer are improving. I think it's a tremendous challenge, and a very gratifying one. This is the most realistic and difficult golf sim I've ever seen, but, again, only if set to Pro (with wind, no other aids, etc.).
I still haven't even gotten into online competition yet!
i havent upgraded anything though and dont plan to because i like things to be a challenge not a pay to get better ego buffing .
EA Sports PGA Tour shouldn't be touched if you're using keyboard and mouse. They completely forgot they were making a game for PC with that one. The ball rolls are also incredibly inconsistent. It frustrated me more than it should have. So I stuck with PGA Tour 2K23. I hate that 2K throws purchases into your face, but it still plays alright. Again, no key bindings, so I had to use autohotkey to fix that. But at least the mouse controls work as expected.
So I'd say Super Video Golf for something simple and cheap, or 2K23 (on sale for $15ish).
My overall favorite is 2K21 with EA ranked second. 2K23 was fine too. I'd recommend buying any of those based on which one is on sale. Since you are just starting, I'd hold off on paying full price for 2K25. Try one of the older titles and see if you get the video golf bug. Eventually they will put 2K25 on sale.
golf club 2019 has a course designer . ive used it some and its ok too not as pretty as this version but courses in that game look good enough for me and the gameplay is better overall i think . chipping in this game is just dead wrong and since chipping is how you save pars / luck in birdies in golf that is a really big deal .
i agree 100% i really like the new swing plane dynamics it makes a good swing really feel like you earned it at least with mouse and keyboard . this game had a lot of potential and its still ok but not nearly what it could have been .
