This game is much like EA Sport NHL
So obviously its nothing like EA NHL in terms of game play or really the game as a whole BUT its so far behind in every aspect compared to football manager 2024 much like NHL is to Fifa (now EA FC 24) I understand the team is likely very under budgeted compared to other games but this kind of game could be up there with the likes of football manager if they simply make it look at lot cleaner and easier to navigate it looks clunky and old.

I've been playing football manager since the early 2000s (championship manager at the time) and I fell in love with ice hockey and the redwings back in 2008 on a ps3 demo of NHL and have bought nearly every NHL since hate the game and what its become though, Regardless.

This game is so far behind the best on the market its unbelievable, and for the same price too, the user interface is shockingly bad and cluttered, the way in which to navigate is cluttered and a nightmare to learn, the fact that its 2024 and theyre still using 2D is so disappointing and making for a hard watch, the tactics screen is an absolute mess and should resemble pretty much what football manager does with the tactics tab, I know this is a completely different game from a completely different dev team/company but you still should be striving to be as close to the top game in football manager.

(I have also tried to download and try other skins created by the community and theyre equally as ♥♥♥♥ as the games current skin)

I really cant get into a save as I just cant stand the user interface or the match engine I feel like im stuck in the 90s trying to play this game.

Also the game constantly crashes on me and I have a 3.5k beast of a PC newly built as of mid march 2024

I don't want to be completely negative so I want to mention a couple of things I love about this game.

I love the fact you can do a historical save its actually all I've really played (obviously being a redwings fan its much better to play in the 97/98 2001/02 and 2008 seasons) thats an amazing feature that frankly Football manager should be adding to the game.

I also enjoy the fact you can be the general manager or the general manager and the head coach its a cool little feature that I didnt expect when I bought the game.

But reality is thats all I really have positives about theres not much else to enjoy about the game.

I'm not sure what the point in this post is I guess just to rant and let out frustration, maybe to hear what others think, this is my first ever FHM and I desperately want it to be better and to succeed and I'll happily put my money into buying the game to help achieve that, but at the moment the game really isnt worth the price you pay.

As far as hockey sims go, there are not a lot of other options out there to play. This seemed like the best one for me
Hockey video games are the least popular of the four major sports and definitely less popular than soccer (Futbol). As such, they don't sell nearly the amount the other major sports video games do and for that reason don't receive near the development budget. That's why EA NHL (which is the most popular NHL video game by far) doesn't advance in terms of features like Madden or FIFA and why EHM/FHM don't get the features that FM and OOTP get.

That said. the UI isn't as bad as many make it out to be. Like any UI it takes some getting use to, but is easy to navigate once you get use to the game.

I've played OOTP baseball for about 10 years. Thought I would try FHM. Once I've gotten used to the UI, it's okay!!!!. I wish it was as advanced as baseball but I enjoy it.

Well in all fairness FHM is also 10 years younger than OOTP as a franchise and OOTP Baseball didn't even have 3D until OOTP 15.

Yeah i get that and its fair but the navigation for it all is crazy confusing it should be more simplified I'm aware of the budget and everything but surely we can all agree theres HUGE room for improvement and hopefully they get on top of it,

I again don't want to ♥♥♥♥ on the game I just hope the developers potentially read it and hear the point of view of someone who plays Football manager and someone whos new to the game that loves ice hockey and wants the game to succeed,

I'd love for the developers to read this, buy football manager or watch games on it and be like oh ♥♥♥♥ he's right look how easy and simple this can be lets add this and add our own spin to it, I will literally buy this game yearly if they can improve the UI the navigation and some other features as simple as using the spacebar to continue the match engine is obviously years away but if they can just get the basics better and the look of the game better thats half the battle to me
I'm sure they are well aware of games like Football Manager, but as I said budget constraints likely impede most of the improvements they want to make every year. They would love to make a game as deep and immersive as Football Manager or even Out of the Park Baseball, but they have to have to budget in order for that to happen.

Yeah again I agree with you but I truly don't feel like the user interface or navigations etc have to be as hard as they are people are saying if you get used to them its easy but thats not the point it should be pretty easy from the get go, people often make skins that are much better than originally done by the developers on FM i cant see a big portion of the budget being spent on someone making the UI and everything to do with that much but I cant imagine its that hard of a job to make it look crisp and clean and smart
