Trojan in game files
As i was redownloading contagion to play again my anti-virus stumbled upon
vbsp.exe Detected: HEUR:Trojan.Win32.Generic C:\Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\downloading\238430\bin\

should i worry?

Which one antivirus you are using?

I've just checked that file by using Virustotal website. No viruses detected. False positive.

Anti-virus software tend to make false positive not just out of misleading processes, but intentionally done to make you fearful so you upgrade and pay.

Well, myself and my friends who have this game (five people in total) aren't infected. So if you ARE, you got infected from a different source.

Contagion does not contain any Trojans.

vbsp.exe is part of the sdk, its not a virus its a official valve/contagion tool.

I just got an alert from avast that contagionds.exe is listed as a high severity threat Win32:Malware-gen

Might be false positive or infected by somewhere else I don't know. I will automatically clean it and redownload the file, but in the past when a file in my steam library has flagged as infected, and I have deleted and redownloaded it, it again gets immediately flagged, meaning it is the file itself, and not anything else, and requires an update from the developers to prevent the file being deleted as soon as it is downloaded, which has stopped me playing a couple of games for weeks at a time waiting for the fix.

I don't know if this is the case here, will post back if it happens again, but I checked the discussions page and someone else was having a similarish problem around the same time, so just giving a heads up! =]

update: yep, redownloaded and was instadeleted by avast

This is an issue with acouple of games that run off source, I know Insurgency has the same issue yet is perfectly clean (Have to keep de-flagging it every time it updates)

It's common in general. Considering we haven't updated the game in a considerable amount of time and are only getting ready to start pumping out updates again it would be highly unlikely that everyone missed a trojan up until now. You are receiving a false positive as there are no viruses or malware in Contagion and would easily have destroyed us quite awhile ago had there been as Valve would never have left it up for download if that were the case.
