Infection, how does it work?
What's the mechanics behind infections?

Sometimes I seem to get mauled for most of my HP, and I don't get infected, and some times, a minor scratch gets me.

How is it calculated?

It's random, I believe.

Just random.

Hmm I kind of figured.

Hopefully they will look into making it a bit different..

Maybe similar to how it was in 'Resident Evil: Outbreak' games.

depends on the difficulty a scratch chance is kinda low but if a zombie grapples you and bites its pretty high.

The infection chance rises with the difficulty but else, I think it's RNG (and probably not PRD)

Why? It would make the game too predictable.

"Random" still can mean a lot of things though. Does it roll the dice every now and then, does a timer get set to a random duration when you first get bitten, does it get shortened if you get bitten more, etc... ?

Maybe, but a random minor 1% damage slice infecting you at random, compared to getting swarmed and hurt for a lot of damage, and not becoming infected doesn't seem to logical in my eyes.

Take it on fate. (pun intended)

Probability calculator. If hit on extreme, you have a 50% chance of infection PER HIT. So since it takes 5 hits to kill you, every hit has a 50% chance to infect. Hard is 40% normal is 30% easy is 20% i believe.

Really? I dont think normal or easy are anywhere near that high.

Also ive died from 2 hits i believe, 3 at most on extreme.

On higher difficulties its pretty much instantaneous, 1 hit and you're infected, lower difficulties it seems to be far more randomised (i've been bitten and not become infected).

Having played a game earlier where the group was getting paranoid about people being infected or not, it'd be cool if they expanded this aspect of the game (With FF off there's basically nothing you can do until the person turns). Something like Day-Z's restraining mechanic, though that'd probably be difficult to do in a way that people wouldn't exploit or use to grief.
i kind of dislike the infection in contagion . Theres no way to prevent or cure it. In say no more room in hell, you can shove zombies away. In zps, you could heal to cure it. Theres not much you can do in contagion, even the best players will get hit occasionally.

With server plugin, yeah, you can cure it.

Didn't know that. Thought it was just the gameplay. But still only whitey could infect you in zps
