How to Host a Dedicated Server?

I'm trying to play with a friend and we are trying to host.
One can start but the other can't, it says something as disconnecting after 4 retries.

We did try to add the game at the Firewall restrictions to be sure the Firewall isn't messing up the game and we did open the IP port just to make ir sure.

What now?

This guide should help you out. If you haven't already, you'll need to forward ports from your router in order for people to connect to your server.

No, there's much stuff in it:
I did block Firewall to Contagion.
I did open the IP port.
I did change the DMZ Host.
None worked, my friend did the same and he is able to host, I don't know why I cant.

It has never worked for me either and I am no stranger to this kind of work. Its been some time since I have tried and I have mostly all different hardware these days so perhaps I should try again.

What is stranger to be about not being able to host Contagion is that I'm the host of my friends.
I host a lot of games to play together: Minecraft, Terraria, 7 Days to Die, Garry's MOD, Portal 2, CS:GO (Workshop and Training), No More Room in Hell, Left 4 Dead (2), F.3.A.R.

You name it, basically all games in my Steam Library that we can host to play Dedicated Server I'm the guy who host it, Coop, PvP, doesn't matter the gamemmode, game genre, even online games as DayZ, Rust that we should play online against other players, sometimes I host a close server to practice or learn something, do tests...

The only game I can't host for whatever reason is Contagion.

Creating a dedicated server for Contagion is not impossible. This other guide was the one that got it to work for me. If you keep trying you'll eventually find a way to get it working.

Your problem may also be that you're trying to create a lan server instead. If you go that route you need a program like Hamachi for your friends to be able to join you.
