"Fatal Error: Unable to create game window!" [SOLVED]

I tried launching the game a few times, and got this messagebox, "Fatal Error: Unable to create game window!"

I then attempted to verify integrity of game cause and force validation, but Steam seems to be malfunctioning. Upon completion of attempted verification and validation, this notice appears:

"3 files failed validation, and will be reacquired."

Steam is "lying;" it is NOT reacquiring the three corrupted files. With that in mind, I uninstalled and reinstalled…only to discover that the source files are corrupt; aforementioned fatal launch error is invariably reproduced.

SOLUTION:
This error, which occurs with a number of Steam games, is not resolved by reinstallation. In this case, where my machine has been up for a little over a hundred twenty consecutive hours, a regular restart (versus a forced restart / crash) eliminated the problem.

My machine is actually capable of cool running for over three hundred consecutive hours of operation, but the Steam application sometimes manifests glitches [such as this] under like sustained loads.
