also, how will they cheat if you have to press different keys for each test?
I've noticed they play that ghost a lot as well. Easier to hide their transgressions. Oddly enough the video game says it gives us new players that ghost first because of it's strength in breaking free and ease of general use.
By no means am I a computer expert. With that said, there are only a few different keyboard keys that need pressing during the time you need to break free of either a "tether" or the traps. Now that we know that there are only a FEW different keys (approximately five I'm guessing from my playing) a computer guy could just write a computer program that presses all those buttons at once - rapidly - during such events. If you have ever been in that position as the ghost, you know you can hit any number of other buttons as long as you are pressing the correct one also, the escape will still progress.
Denny Crane.
Hence the ghost players that bust out of traps and tethers like they're made of wet paper.
"What is Auro-mash?" And what reason is it still allowed if it is causing this exploitative advantage?
Humans are Humans. If something can be exploited, it will be. As for the reason, ask the developers. Only they can answer that.
In the mean time, if you come across one of these players, use the 3 trap rule to your advantage.
So it is a bigger problem than I thought.
Well, the reason Auto-mash was put in was because, surprise surprise, a lot of this games playerbase leans on the older side, lots of us are late 30's+ many in the fandom are blue collar types who work with their hands a lot, and a lot of players have issues with being forced to mash so much. We have LITERAL Grandma's playing this game [go look up crazygrandma on twitch]
If you guys want to understand a lot of the "Why's" to decisions that were made by Illfonic, the Discord is the place to be, they actually engage with the community there, they listen to feedback so long as things are structured in a constructive, thoughtful way. Pretty much everything the community has asked for [except usable slime blowers and Janine's RGB voice actoress being added, and driveable ecto 1] has been addressed to date. They've worked with the competitive leagues and competitive players to shake out balance issues and egregious game-breaking bugs over the past year.
But yeah, the reason for auto mash, because we've got a lot of older players, simple as.
The convo wasn't about why auto-mash exists as a feature. It was about why they allowed manual mashing to stack on top of the auto-mashing feature. Because it's being abused to high hell by the "non-agedly challenged".
For sure an issue that needs addressing, I highly recommend you submit a bug report on the official discord in the #bug-reports channel. Especially if you have video proof of the bug in action.
I have no doubt. They recently added a "patch" which didn't address this issues. Perhaps it wasn't a known issue until now. Let's hope the next "patch" will address this issue. Cheating ruins it.
