co-op with less than 4 players?
Is it possible to play co-op with only two players via LAN?

There isn't LAN support, but you can play locally with your friends on the same PC.

You can playt any number of players Online and Offline. But we don't support LAN I'm afraid.
In fact you can have one friend hot seating and one online etc. Mix as you please.

How does multiplayer work than? Do players join a server of somekind? Thanks for responses so far.

Yup. That's pretty much it.
You can even choose to be online while you and your friends play locally. That way someone else can join your game via said server.

Can you exclude other players from joining the game? Basically I don't like playing with randoms, and the idea of sharing a computer sounds clunky and out-dated.
Personally, I'm delighted you can share a computer. Hook it up to the TV, grab a few pads, a few beers and have many laughs.

In any case, you can make your game private or invite only, so that you're only playing with your friends. The only disadvantage in LAN terms is you'll lose the great low latency of a LAN, as you'll all be connecting to the internet instead of more directly to each other.

Sure - there's a check box called "Private game" in settings. No one will ever be forced to play with randoms.
Local co-op? Suppose it's not everyone's cup of tea. But with the right setup (game pads) it can be fantastic. I've said it before, but "co-op" with friends is more fun within punching distance of said friend. :)

Hmm what I thought he meant was that one player gets up and stops playing, while the other player takes a turn. I never thought of using my PC like a console. Might be worth looking into. I haven't played the first one.

Thanks for explaining! Might have to give this one a try!

Ooooooo. Gotcha. Yea taking turns wouldn't really work for Magicka I think. This is all simultaneous action.

to me none of that is possible, i tried to use ps4 controllers but had the worst time ever trying to make them to work without any progress at all, the game is far from plug and play
