Magicka is Action-Adventure.
...wut, this is not a rpg at all. its a action adventure. there no levels, no real stats, no upgrades. your about as strong at the very beginning of the game as you are at the end. sure you learn a new few tricks, but you have to lose old benefits to gain the new ones. you can't buy equipment, you can't gain any exp, no levels, no looting system, ect.
@solinarius 'via the making of consequential choices' almost no rpg has that, like cmon. rpgs at most usually have like 3 endings based on a choice near the end of the game, or some unforseeable gamefaqs style mega full game side quest that eventually collides the main story into another ending. a more basic example or a rpg would be earthbound, tales of series, mario rpg series, or final fantasy. even open world games like skyrim offer little 'consequential choises'
off the top of my head, the only game i can think of is star ocean 1+2
