Help with joining friends game?

Whenever I join any of my friends' games, on my screen it shows that I'm in but I get stuck on the spawn screen. (http://puu.sh/iqgGl/a3bdb063fb.jpg)

I never spawn in but I can type, however my friends can't see what I send in the chat.
If I host, it says my friends time-out on trying to connect to my game. I've tried turning off both my firewall and antivirus and it still doesn't connect. Joining through the game and joining through steam don't work either. I've tried hamachi as well, but it didn't work.

Anyone know of a fix or some other things I should check?
