It's rouge like, I think so that means once you die, you start over.
I think he means save as in, you put 50 minutes into getting ubersupergangster status on level 20 and then you gotta go to work, so save on that level and come back after work and resume right where you left off. But if you die you couldn't load the save. But to answer your question, no, there is no save feature built into the game, and I don't think its something the devs would want in the game, which I would agree on.

well, if you quit the game, and come back you start where you left off.
Exactly Trichome. this should have had a save feature or atleast someway to save your last checkpoint.
I know you can pause, and if you're willing to leave your computer running, that's basically the same thing (though there is the risk of a power outage, for whatever reason).
This is the only reason I haven't played the game since I bought it. Well, I played for an hour or two, then quit to go out, and when I came home I was surprised to find that there is no save on exit feature.

The response I got from the devs is that you should just leave your computer on until you finish, which seems like a ludicrous development strategy. It's a shame, because this game looks like a lot of fun.

If I remember correctly from when I originally asked about this, there are something like 26 levels, and to win you must get to the bottom and back. This means that if you spend only five minutes per level, the game will take more than four hours to complete. If you only play an hour or so a day, well... you get my point.

Some people seem to think having any kind of save feature compromises the perma-death element of the game, but the simple fact is - save on exit does not. It merely allows people who don't play games for four or five hours at a time to have a shot at completing it.

Actually on second thought, I completely agree with you. I guess the time factor is one reason I dont play LoD as much as I want to. Well spoken sir, I hope we get what we want!
After thinking about it, I'm surprised this topic hasn't been discussed more on this forum. I hope this thread gets some attention, simply because I am interested to find out how this missing feature has or has not affected other players' experience. No hate here, just curious :happymeat:
Yes, agreed, but heres the cold reality.

Ever since LoD came out, the devs lives have blown up into a hectic frenzy of chaos and all the sudden they find them selves with not enough time to live a normal human life. Another thing is that when LoD dropped, IN BETA I MIGHT ADD, (they could have waited till WAAAAYYYY later to release it to us) people just posted about how they wanted multiplayer, or this feature, and that feature, (im guilty of being one of them) but put your self in their shoes. You make a quality video game that everybody loves, but you dont know that everyone loves it, because the only feedback your getting is how you want them to improve it and add things, and how it pissed people off that there is no (inster feature here). Pretty discouraging to the devs. The devs have also said how they are currently focusing (most) their attention on other projects. So personally, I dont think that they are going to add a save feature anytime soon :( and furthermore, even see this thread, because by now I bet their sick of seeing thread titles like this :(

(not trying to hate just trying to point out!)
Well i gotta say.. If The Devs are reading this, thank you for this AMAZING GAME!!! Keep up the good work guys, you freaking rock
Problem could be solved with the implementation of a normal save system, but if you die you can't load any previous save. I mean, wouldn't be allright this way?
This game is awesome, but way too long to have to continue feature at all. Its not a problem for a game like binding of isaac. But there is no way ill get my girlfriend to complete a full game if we can't stop.

Then it wouldn't be a rogue-like.
I think the game is meant to be played quickly - in my first round I made it to level 9. With friends, I'd figure you're going to spend a couple of hours trying to beat it. If you don't have a friend willing to sit for a couple of hours and play a fun game with you - you need to find a friend who will.

Also, everytime you say "rouge-like" or "rouge" when you mean "rogue," a child gets cancer, stocks drop, and your potential mating partners contract HIV.
if a run does take for 4 or 5 hours I agree it really could use a feature like save & exit, like FTL does. perhaps something to consider for the future... looking like a fun game so I am picking it up after seeing it on the destructoid stream :-)
