Here is a video of someone playing Star Trek and at the 23minute mark it crashes. Here in the Stern Forum is a topic about Star Trek crashing. http://steamcommunity.com/app/564010/discussions/0/154644928858393436/?ctp=2
Also what if someone doesnt know to go to the forum and look thru the pages to fix this bug? Then they are stuck with a lousy looking 800 by 600 game that looks blurry and fuzzy looking. Not every customer is a tech genius and looks thru the steam forums. I have helped several people on the forum with this exact issue that has yet to be fixed. They launched the Stern Software in Dec 23, 2016. Its now March 3/6/2017. The problem with the resolution bug is still here. The issue with the Star Trek table crashing is still here.
I love Pinball Arcade. I have bought all seasons of pinball arcade. I consider it a great bargain for pinball lovers. I recommend it to everyone and I have written a review on steam stating just that on all the seasons. I have even purchased the Zaccaria Pinball gold package. However until they fix the Stern software and its issue I aint buying one table on that software.
Just one other point. I have tried almost all of the virtual pins software out on the market. Future pinball, Pinball Mame and others. Pinball Arcade is the best one in my opinion by far. It may not have cabinet support but I dont own a cabinet. I own a computer and a monitor. We both agree that Pinball Arcade is the best we have for pinball lovers.
Believe me... there are also some PROVEN trivial bugs to correct (reported multiple times) they still don't. Just an example? The texture for one ball (and only in PC version, try it on Android: it's ok) is broken.
This game is great, but lack of PC support is very annoying... we have all the required patience but there is a limit.
P.S.
In email they lied to me saying it's unreproducible. False. Everybody can easily reproduce it.
Probably the texture file on PC is missing/renamed or has been saved with the wrong compression method: a 5 minutes to fix minor issue, probably. Still there since summer 2016.
Any slower and a good chunk of their customer base may be dead from natural causes.
You have also to consider a bunch of bugs are only for the PC version: Android version has less bugs, which is a shame. [/quote]
Their support assured me they are working hard on the Season 5 tables (promised well over a year ago) for Xbox One. This was months ago. And they never patched The WIlliams Collection for Xbox 360. There's a Tales wizard achievement I haven't gotten because of the bug. Sigh. Only PC and Android matter. :(
they dont deserve my money for this product anymore. i dont know if i will buy the next season at all, nevermind at full price.
Too bad to hear that, though I can't blame you. The fragmentation with having the Stern (Capcom, Data East, Etc) moved into a separate product does pose some interesting choices when it comes to my Steam dollar, and when I look at what remains of unemulated tables, it may make sense to not buy a season pass anymore (or just wait till you can justify it based on released tables).
Farsight should consider lowering the price of the next season, as outside of Congo I'm not too confident we will see any licensed IP tables. I hope I am wrong though... But still, there are less and less "must have" tables still out there, and now many of those would end up over in the Stern app.
Oh well, we still have an amazing collection of tables, and even with the various bugs and frustration TPA has been and continues to be a good time/dollar value.
This is my view as well. If I can get another season pack on sale at a significant discount, I'll buy it. Otherwise, I'll play the tables I have and be satisfied with that.
Pity still no VR support though, it would be my incentive to buy a VR unit. (and a load more tables)
Je.. what a mess. And they released also another incomplete, bugged unoptimized Stern Pinball Arcade product that didn't even have a proper usable menu at launch, and one of the tables in SPA (star trek) keeps crashing from 3 months since the release and it has not been fixed yet. Phantom of the Opera and almost all tables run in slow-motion in SPA using high-end gaming machines.
Just don't bother asking for fixes and support.
They port straight from IOS and don't fix almost anything.
DO not buy.
I really hope Stern, Bally, Gottieb and Williams could reach an agreement with magic pixel instead.
