I am legitimately surprised by the lack of people playing paladin. Main reasons..
-Basically a 0 downtime infinite target aoe CC, if you CC and kite back, takes them a few seconds to run to you, it's back up and you can cc again. Since you are the tank, they only target your mobs and won't break the CC either.
-Dps is competitive with all except duelist. (my pally currently out dps's my arcanist if I put on dps weapon)
-Tanky as all hell while also having competitive dps
-Self healing, While not as strong as the druid, once you get later game gear with a bit of resonance, I can self heal myself through most encounters higher level than me.
-Sooo many debuffs. Steal enemy attack speed, lower their attack rating by 20%, and my new personal favorite, lower all their resists. the last one basically doubled my dps using elemental proc weapon/shield combo.
Feel like people are sleeping on this class honestly.
It's kind of weird being a mana battery tho. A weird role for Duelist.
I also started with the Druid and decided I didn't actually want to be a healer, so at level 5 or 6 I switched to Arcanist, who dinged 10 last night.
For my Arcanist I've got a good rotation down (which I enjoy having), and my SimPlayers are doing well tanking and healing and so I'm happy standing back DPSing.
...before long I'm sure I'll make a Duelist... ;-)
It funny because duelist is my favorite class too and I always felt like I was giving them an unfair amount of weapons but when you look at it, paladins do have more at the moment (partially because most 2h options are exclusively paladin).
If there are level gaps where you feel duelist needs some gear love, by all means post it :)
The AI plays the healer perfectly tbh. With the thresholds for healing staggered on the paladin, they will react and heal accordingly. The AI plays the tank better than a player too, much faster on targeting and taunt reaction. The Duelist is probably the most simple, although depending on gear your AI Duelist may get himself killed if he does more threat than the tank can handle. The Arcanist is best played by the player, its a bit better now that the resists have been adjusted, but the AI can't manage the same complexity as a player.
Well I was able to kill the boss in the Gardens at level 30, but I dunno if the AI would have timed the heals properly, I'm not saying the AI druid is bad, I'm just saying I dunno if I would have been able to kill some bosses without being the healer and preemptively healing. My Pala was basically 3 hits from dying on some of the fights i've done and I had to start casting before the next hit landed.
adjust the healing threshold to 100% and the AI healer will heal before they've taken damage
but then they'd be healing everyone, I could have tried 99%.
honestly go try kill Eldori Molrai at level 30 with an AI healer and lemme know how well that goes. I was spam healing for 10+ minutes as my guys were low enough to barely be able to land a hit. and my pala would have died if I had stopped chaining heals one after the other, if I tried to heal the other party members it would have been long enough for him to take lethal damage.
so what I'm saying is that, the only reason I think I made it to where I am now, is because I'm healing and not the AI.
doesnt heal people that don't have aggro
