Does anyone know what sim playings upgrading gear "Between sessions" means?
Been seeing that language alot on patch notes. I guess im curious in general how the sim players work on themselves outside the XP they earn and items they are given with/by me. Anyone have some insight on how that background process works? is it a binary thing that happens when I close and relaunch the game, or goes off system clock etc? Do they level up and get better gear while i'm playing too?

Also am I correct in assuming the sim players on your save are the same ones, with the same current gear/level regardless of what character you are playing? Its not its own seed for each character?

From what I understand, if you /friend a SimPlayer, they'll always be around your level and with suitable gear for that level's content. I assume if you level up by yourself or with other SimPlayers, they'll "keep up" with background gear upgrades while matching your level.

I'm pretty sure they keep gear you give them, too; you can access it any time by inspecting them while grouped (right click them) and left clicking on the gear slot to see all potential gear. i.e. Blademann still has the low level stuff I gave him from the tutorial island, despite auto-equipping better items.

As for seeds, it seems like resetting SimPlayers doesn't work properly yet, at least it hasn't worked when making a second character or deleting all characters. It's remained the same SimPlayers in my world.

(I felt bad about rerolling Duellist after seeing the SimPlayer Dancer's damage and haven't invited them to my group since, but couldn't reset the SimPlayers to get rid of them... and my guilt, haha)

Appreciated, yeah ive friended, I think 6 sims on my first day but have avoided using the system since, seems more interesting to let the world state play out on its own (so long as it actually works, dev pushed an update recently that apparently made them level and progress faster so hopefully this will just work itself out.). I have yet to try to reset the seed since that feels like a nuclear option I dont understand the game enough to consider yet.

You automatically start with about 20 "friended" SimPlayers. Friending more takes them from other character slots and I recommend you use it very sparingly so you can have alts with friends too :)

I've seen you mention this 20 starting friend simplayers.

Though I'm noticing that only the /friend's I've made are my literal level usually. Like, at level 10, I'm only seeing my 3 regular teammates as level 10 in the group finder.

One thing I've noticed is that after closing the game and coming back to it about 10 hours later, I find my old party and regroup with them. They usually have the same gear I gave them, but also have some upgraded gear. Which I'm guessing means I'm being terrible at farming gear. But I'm getting better! Lol

Even if you scroll down none are keeping up? You have to click on the arrows to scroll atm, mouse wheel doesnt do it.

Somethings up with them not leveling up quick enough, maybe it's me (as I've been playing pretty hardcore since getting it), but as I look at the groupfinded, there is me and my regular crew all sitting at lvl 25, then there are a handful few that are in their teens 15-19, then literally the other 80% of em are in the lvl 2-3 range, like ditching my regular crew right now for level 15-19's is not going to be an option, guess I'm stuck with the same crew, even though it would be fun trying new comp out, like a pally and 3 duelists, but yeah that's not happening unless you make the Sims actually catch up reasonably.

a lot of them sitting back in the level 2-3 range is intentional, they're waiting for your alts.

The ones not keeping up is just them not keeping up with your pace, they'll catch up as you continue to play over a few days though.

I think the system is fine if it does work that way, well see, IMO (or at least for the funnies) you should make each character have a single no-lifer friend who somehow plays more then the player and is always 1 step ahead of them, ie. 1 level ahead. Bonus if you make him a snob and have him refuse the join your invites.

It'll be a day or two till I can check but dang. I haven't scrolled at all. Didn't notice the arrows I think. I'll be sure to check when I'm back at my PC. Thank you!

Small update, it does seem to work out quite well, I just popped on to take a look at a fresh list and it's still me and my 25 crew, but the odd few that (try to) keep up, are in the 22-24 range, I consider that acceptable.

It's just so weird seeing each time the same 40-something other sim's all in the 1-2 range.
