NPC Chatting AI Plans?
Hi! Are there any plans to incorporate AI for more intuitive chatting with simplayers?

Yeah when it said simulated players I was expecting to form "relationships"/history with them, but (at least in the demo?) they don't even give responses that make sense other than 'hello'

They do make a witty comment about walking and chatting when you send them w in chat.

could be better tho. i would rather they use something like a LLM AI over what they use rn so we can actually get interactive responses that make it feel more real. just getting the same few responses back when trying to "chat" ruins immersion a bit IMO

i doubt it based on the game description on his reasons for not having AI. A one time purchase would not cover the ai indefinitely.

haha nah definitely. hopefully dev can find some sort of middle ground...it's cool to see the simplayers running around and stuff but if you can only interact in such a small number of ways, the game does start to feel a bit more lonely and less social

An option to have the simplayers chat powered by a locally running llm would be amazing.

Its probably not worth the devs time as im not sure it would increase sales, but they could implement an ai that uses the gpu like ai roguelite does as werd suggested. If advertised it could increase sales though. They arnt great, but its better than whats on offer right now on this game. Some of the newer models are pretty okay with my gpu and honestly this would be a perfect fit for its use.

I really wish there was an option to use a chatGPT API hook as an option for players who have a subscription.

This isn't fully off the table yet, but there's legal issues I need to consider - what if a game bug hits your token repeatedly and drains it and causes you charges? etc.

I'm looking into it but not ready to promise it yet. Steam holds devs really accountable for what AI in their game does.

Ahh, didn't think about that. You'd need some pretty good disclaimer language there I guess.

If it comes down to it and you need testers though, hit me up. Very willing, regardless of bug issues!

I just started this game yesterday but seemed to me the NPCs seemed to have some personality. Yes they repeat themselves but for instance Blademann is a brah dude while Maven was kinda an a hole. Its enough to get attached to certain NPC and felt like a nice touch however I just started so maybe I am reading into it too much lol.

Poor ole Scrubby gets clowned on. I'm leveling him up and giving him lots of good equip heheh. They will fear Scrubby!

I just saw this on reddit site but you can tie NPC progression to you by selecting them and typing /friend They supposely wont go more that 2 levels than you if you don't do this. Just an FYI.

Don't tie too many to you, about 20 are tied by default. Your future alts will need friends too and lots of SimPlayers are waiting up for those alts
