Getting rid of items in inventory

I'm trying to get rid of the stone in my inventory since I cannot sell it, but not sure what to do. I tried putting it in the X box and left clicking right clicking, space bar, I can't seem to get it to disappear. Any help?

The item on the X will be overwritten by the next item you put on the X, instead of swapping the X-item back onto the cursor like normal inventory behavior.
