Must-have modpack for you guys!

Logged-in today and what I've seen? My beloved game! Updated to 2.4 with modern OS support, easy mod support, HD resolutions and OpenAL supported! GREAT!!! :) So I want to share someting with all of you: my old modpack I've assembled on old CD-version. Just repacked it to Steam version - you need only to unpack it to "DataPermMods" folder inside of game folder and just run the game.

on top of this pack - ADaOB is the project in which it's creators try to solve all original game's problems without fixing things what in fact ain't broken. But please note what after installation of ADaOB you need to start a new game.

thanks will install and try out, but what is the consensus now, do I have to "clean up the install" as is mentioned in that other huge thread ? Thanks !

Edit : Well, installed, and now my game doesn't start at all. My windows mouse pointer turns into the "busy" icon and I have to kill the system shock 2 process in task manager :/

Yep, I recommend you to clean up the install. Without this there can be a lot of problems, including yours. And make sure you installed game is NOT located in default Steam location at Program Files. If so - uninstall it, make additional Steam lib in other location, then install game at this lib, then modpack and so on.

Thanks it finally worked ! I think I did the cleanup, then the game wouldnt start
So I ran ss2tool, game still wouldnt start
I redownloaded the game, with no mods, still wouldnt start
I renamed cam_ext.cfg, game starts !
Then I messed with some settings one by one, game would start if i forced the windowed mode
From there once it started successfully once, I put it back in fullscreen and it works as it should...

So who knows what happened but everything looks great now, also while looking at cam_ext.cfg I noticed the setting to scale the UI, I put the UI at 800x600 while playing in 1920x180, looks great !

Thanks for this! I just got the game on steam sale and am looking forward to playing it. I have already installed the mods after reading through some other threads.

This should defintely be stickied! I already saw some other posts on the front page asking about mods. I doubt anyone moderates this forum anymore.

hi thanks for this modpack. i did it all including getting the new 5.1 tool and the game is working great. but there are no extra video options in the game and I honestly can't tell if it looks better. am i suppose to edit an ini file or what?

I can tell the differences I just want to double check that everything listed to dl goes into "DataPermMods" and nothing else? I also loaded up my old game and I know you said that you'd have to restart the game but I am playing my loaded save game just fine... or will I run into something that will screw this up? I already found a crate that looked like a painting laying down in mid air so I dunno...

yes, the files go to the DataPermMods folder, nothing else. if you have installed ADaoB as well, you will need to restart the game, or you will encounter problems (med hypos not working, for example). pure graphics updates do not affect savegames, and you should be able to continue if you have only those.
