Mac OS X Users - Readme if having launching troubles.
System Shock 2 uses the Wine 1.6 Mac Driver by default. This works fine for a lot of people, others not so much. Here's how to disable it and use X11 instead.

Browse the Contents of the System Shock 2.app located in your Steam folder (Users/<You>/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/SS2/) and right-click on it. Click "Show Contents" and run Wineskin.app. In the Screen Options, you should see a checkbox that says 'Use Mac Driver instead of X11'. Uncheck that box and that should fix the problem.

Enjoy the game!

With the Mac Driver checked, there's just no launch, snd the only line in the system log is
Jun 10 19:38:39 minimac kernel[0]: [com.apple.sandbox.path2 ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/SS2/System Shock 2.app/Contents/Frameworks/wswine.bundle/bin/System Shock 2 Unprepared English272227845Wine]

With it unchecked, I get
Jun 10 18:44:06 minimac WineskinLauncher[5816]: Wineskin: Starting WineskinX11 Jun 10 18:44:09 minimac WineskinLauncher[5816]: Wineskin: Waiting 3 seconds for WineskinX11 to start. … Jun 10 18:44:58 minimac WineskinLauncher[5816]: Wineskin: Waiting 51 seconds for WineskinX11 to start. Jun 10 18:45:49 minimac WineskinLauncher[5816]: Wineskin: Could not find PID for WineskinX11 Jun 10 18:45:49 minimac WineskinLauncher[5816]: Wineskin: Error! WineskinX11 PID not found, there may be unexpected errors on shut down! Jun 10 18:45:50 minimac WineskinLauncher[5816]: Wineskin: WineskinX11 Started, PID = -1

and then everything gets a kill -9.

I don't know when this started, it had been quite a while since I last launched it but it worked before.

This is on 10.10.3, X11 2.7.7 (xorg-server 1.15.2)

Uninstalled, deleted SteamApps/common/SS2, reinstalled, now working with X11. Sorry I didn’t try that before bothering you!

The Wine 1.6 Driver Downloads and have read the readme file by Daniel but when I look for Steam folder in Application Support it doesn't exist so therefore I can not run it in X11. Any Ideas ? Thanks Mark. I am annoyed because I used to own this game back in the day and loved it!

On Mac, right-click on the SS2 app, choose "show package contents." Wineskin.app is in there.

I can't find/run Wineskin.app either - all I can see is a .zip file! Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like maybe there's a new bug due to yesterdays update. The above mentioned fix doesn't work. It was working fine until the update.

I rolled back to the previous version of the game and it's still crashing. Oh well, just have to wait for a smart person to come along and fix it I guess.

I can't seem to find WineSkin.app. I found Wineskin but no file named that.
