In SS2 if you run into a unknow room , making zig zags with strafe and shooting grenades , you probably die ...
But the history of HL is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mythical for leave it abandoned :P
I love the both
Who wins?
...Meaning that how on Earth can you compare two things that have very little or nothing to do with each other..? Half-Life is pure FPS with some platforming, System Shock 2 is RPG with some action elements. It's not FPS, unless you want to bend the definition and say it is because it's from first-person perspective and you can shoot stuff. In that case 2012 official olympics game is FPS because archery and 25m rapid fire pistol are both from first-person perspective and you naturally shoot stuff.
It always felt like I was shooting a paper-mache gun with it's sound effects in a tin can.
But that's not why I liked it.
Anyway, i'm a bigger half-life fan than SS2 fan, so I would gladly say it wins.
These types of threads are pointless and always biased.
Especially in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SYSTEM SHOCK 2 FORUM.
Both are exceptionally good games (at least that's my opinion) and both were more or less equally revolutionary. Still, there's no way to quantify them (let alone compare them) and it comes down to "which one would you rather play right now".
And that makes threads like these pointless.
Agreed, both shock 2 and half life games are revolutionary and (in my opinion) two of the best games of all time. Both games are diffrent and just because they both are shooters doesnt mean they can be compared. Both games are hard in their own way, both games are fun in their own way and both games are designed in their own way. Were half life guns play is fast paced old school run and gun, shock 2 has weighty tactical gunplay.
Generally when it comes down to my favorite games of all time(System shock 2, half life games, Stalker shadow of chernobyl, infinite and etc) I have difficulty playing favorites.
Well said indeed!
Some comments though are entertaining to read.
Funny fact: I made the same post in the Half Life forum - maybe you want to stop by to see how it has evolved there...
Its just a deeper game then Half-life.
