the shields being almost completely impenetrable is actually a(n original) bug, and the only reason why almost nobody knows about it is that you have to be really crazy to not have hacking at this point. so it's either hacking and nanites, or 3 ice picks, or lots of emp grenades and a grenade launcher, or an emp rifle with enough charge. you are screwed unless you have one of those setups.
Otherwise, if you have TONS of AP ammo for the rifle (~1500 rounds or so), you can destory the shields...
GIven that you are playing on hard, if all you have are heavy and standard, that must've been a pretty dull game.
I also had some points at energy and exotic but I thought it not to be worth mentioning since I didn't carry any energy or exotic weapon through to the Body of the Many.
That was my very first pure combat run and I got to use a pretty good variety of weapons throughout. So I finally got to see the workings of weapons that in the past I could just look at, without being able to actually fire them.
Plus I wanted to see how the game works when you can't rely on hacking.
Had loads of fun :)
I'm still in love with this game.
It worked like a charm. Thanks a whole lot, NeutralX2!
(On a side note: very nice website you have. I loved your SS2 review)
