How to mod PSI skills?
Are there any files i can edit in notepad or with some program to edit PSI skill cyber module cost, PSI point cost and inital + per psi durations?

I'd like to mod my PSI playthrough a bit to make all PSI skills (except tier unlocks) cost more cyber modules, and more psi points per use, but have longer initial and per psi durations.

Is this possible?
I think it would make a fun playthrough as you couldn't get as many psi disciplines, but the ones you do get would be stronger, though, more expensive.

The only way to modify the Psi skills with Notepad is to use it to create a DML file to patch the gamesys to override the default values. To do that, you'll need to either really know what you're doing, or talk someone who really knows what they're doing into creating one for you.

Well, what file contains the default values? Maybe i can edit that one? OR create a DML based on whatever code is in there?

As I said, the file that contains those values is the gamesys. The gamesys is only editable by DromEd.

I see. Well i installed ShockEd, i assume that's the same thing, is there any tutorial or some documentation you can link on how to use it? How to load the file and edit it. Maybe i can whip something up hehe. :P

start here[www.systemshock.org], but don't expect Dark to give away its secrets without resistance. no free lunches ever, period.

for starters you should remember that you always need to load a map, even if you just want to make changes to the gamesys. also, make sure to install the editor using SS2tool (it has a checkbox for that).

Thank you! :) Yes, i don't expect it to be easy, and i may not even be able to do anything but i can try. :)

See, this is useful information, i didn't know i had to load a map to mess with gamesys! Thank you! That explains why nothing was happening when i tried it before haha.

And yes, i used SS2Tool to install the editor. :)

Well, wish me luck!

If i manage to do something i'll post it here, if not, well, then Dark has beaten me and i didn't know what to do and how. :P

the Engineering subforum over at systemshock.org would be a much better place for more serious (editor related) conversation.

Thanks, i'll check it out! :)

I managed to find where the PSI cost values are. I edited them, and saved a custom gamesys.

How do i make a mod out of that gamesys file? How do i load it in the mod manager so the game loads it instead of the default one?

I mean, i can probably rename the new one to the default one, but if i want the "non destructive" option...

Also, still looking for individual skill values. Still not sure how to change each skill individually.

yes, you load the custom gamesys (placed in its own modfolder, like MyPsiMod, which needs to reside in the DMM folder) with the modmanager, activate, give it top priority, and that's it.

note that you should convert the changes to the dml format at some point if you are serious about the mod.

I see! Nice, thanks, I'll try that.

I still have ways to go till j figure out how to make a dml lol, I renamed the new gamesys file to replace the default one, checked a new game and the psi costs were still the same. :P
So either it doesn't work by replacing the file or I didn't do anything or didn't save properly idk...
Have to mess with it some more.
