How do Quantum Bio-Reconstruction Devices work?
Does your Body Teleport and heal you in the machine when you die or does it replace your original body and give you a new one? It still bothers me

the general consensus is the former - we know that teleportation tech is a thing in the SS universe, and as there is no original body left where you have died, it's reasonable to assume the QBR pulls the dying body into its chamber once it detects terminal damage on a user that provided a sample (hence, it has a radius = only works in the level where it is placed), and repairs it to a certain level of functionality. not full mind you, we don't want to rob a certain fat corporation of its nanites you'll have to spend at the nearby medical station, now do we.

Thanks, Quantum Physics is really confusing

This is the most cyberpunk thing i ever read!
Why fully heal you (even if they are completely able to do that), when they can charge you for a revive, plus the rest of the healing. :lunar2019grinningpig:

Cause dystopian corporations, that's why! :lunar2019coolpig:

When you activate first Quantum Bio-RecontruvtionDevice you will recevie email from Polito about this machines. And it contans info - "You need to provide quantum enanglement sample ...the device will be able to rebuild your body essentially from scratch". So it seems that no body teleport using for that. It creates "new us" from quantum sample. But i still have no idea where is previos body in that case.

that's why the "body remains are teleported into the QBR chamber, and are used for the rebuild" theory. "essentially from scratch" can mean that even remains that have been exploded by a grenade are viable. all items currently in possession of the person who provided a sample are pulled as well. the sample is used by the QBR machine to lock onto the user, and monitor their vital stats as long as the range permits. if terminal damage is detected, it pulls in whatever is left, and reconstructs.

The entire-body teleportation thing makes the most sense since you can provide a sample, then pick up some armor later, and the armor will be on your "new" body. You still kinda have to fill in the gaps though since literally nothing of yours gets left behind ever, not even your blood. I was under the impression when they said "from scratch" that they basically just had surrogate bodies and brains sitting around with their brain states entangled with yours so that the memory transfer is instant (like a Star Trek transporter), supposing that "continuity" is a sufficient state for maintaining personhood and quantum entanglement is tantamount to continuity. In the promotional stuff for System Shock 3, the game that will never come out, you can see a bunch of vacuum-sealed bodies being carted around, which made me think of these backups.

The Many are so conceited that they get a small army of little worms to carry your corpse to the BRD for resurrection...

..just so they can kill you again.

Via Quantum Entanglement, apparently.

The regeneration chambers in the later Bioshock games use a mixture of Quantum Mechanics and DNA sampling.
