Linux audio feedback issues - Bazzite, Soundblaster X4
First off, I realise that this is not something that is within the bounds of 'normal support', and it's likely not something that AngeTheGreat can resolve, but it's worth mentioning because it's an issue for me.

I can't play this game because all I get is a massive, horrible buzz.

Now, my software is not the 'usual', and given the way that this game creates the audio, I can fully understand that this could be an unforeseen interaction that's causing the problems - so no worries, I'll wait for the proton people to resolve whatever backend issue is happening, but I thought I'd report it here.

I'm running Bazzite on a 10700K, 32GB ram, 3070 GPU and an NVME drive (So not really power limited). I've tried Proton, Proton GE, Proton Experimental and UMU-Proton. I don't know much about the audio backend in Linux so I can't comment. I'll be raising an issue in the Proton GitHub to look into this. I don't have Windows installed any more so I can't easily switch back to that to test, but I'm reasonably confident it would work (Unless there's something funky with the SoundBlaster X4? Dunno - I've tried that in pure pass-through mode and also in its various '3D Virtualised Headphone Audio' modes as well).

For those who have a similar issue, the GitHub issue I raised with the Proton Team is at https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/issues/8380

Do you have the same problem on proton 9.0-4?
I am running the game on Fedora 41 with a USB "Sound Blaster Play! 3" without any problem.

PS.: Did you try if it works with our onboard-soundcard?

Yes, on Proton 9.0-4 - all the varieties I tried are in the GitHub issue I raised with the Proton team. I'm going to find it tricky to test with the on-board sound as I'm not 100% sure how to turn it back on, after having gone in and disabled a bunch of stuff :D Still relatively (3-months or so) new to Linux.
