What's the secret?
This is probably the most realistic-looking game I've ever seen. How.

I've never seen anything like this before, my jaw was literally on the ground, like I am talking I watched that trailer with an open mouth through and through. If whoever makes this game pulls it off, that'll be gaming history, and that is an understatement.

I genuinely haven't been this amazed by video game graphics since 2008 when Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Grand Theft Auto 4 came out

I'd say the secret is spending an insane amount of time on perfecting camera motion and animation. It might actually be dynamic and react to movement and player input. Together with the body cam lens effect which triggers a natural "real" response as a viewer. I still wonder how some of the random camera tilts happen in that trailer, it makes the short sprints he does seem really authentic. It also helps that it uses Unreal Engine 5 and probably only takes place in small locations that allow for way more detail (using the nanite tech) because you don't have to render things like a big landscape, meaning u can spend more on clutter detail etc. and it'll be easier to optimize.

dude, seriously, same here my mind was literally blown when I watched the footage for the 1st time, I really hope the dev can pull off what was shown. this could be HUGE.

Filter, lighting and shaky movement emulates what you would see on a camera. It will be fun for the first few hours before it becomes annoying

Camera movement as well as the filter and warped perspective of the bodycam makes it seem real. If you look at the screenshots of any outdoor area with trees or foliage, it looks really bad, but the filters and Lumen lighting do their job really well.

Hope it's not another "The Day Before" fiasco

the secret is...

prerendering, its litteraly impossible to achive that animation style for some random indy dev, that is AAA quality and that just makes it kinda obvious its prerendered, they just bought a cool map, a photorealistic view model and a pistol that looks worse than the USP .45 from CoD4, that aiming style is simply not possible in PC btw,

ive seen a lot of people speculate this is some guy larping irl and they just pretended this is a game but nah, the lighting looks kinda bad and that map i bet it was bought in ue4's market

It's a offset player aim model. You can follow the development on the dev's twitter. Its kinda like the mods for Garrys Mod...

yeah, its simply an optical effect and not really anything mind blowing, you just move the camera so it looks good

I disagree. I actually think it IS mind blowing how good this looks. I don't think we've ever seen accurate "body cam" style camera movement and dynamic animation done in real-time like this. But I see you think it's pre-rendered which I doubt. We've seen early test footage from this game a while back when they did a prototype on a smaller scale in a short video and that already looked really good, even with low detail assets. And if you look close u can recognize how it was done using nanite tech for the detail and Lumen lighting in UE5. I have good faith this game will look as advertised. If I'm wrong, then that's sad I guess.

the game seems to fit the term "perfect imperfections" really well, a sort of natual way to get over the uncanny valley using known ways to mask the photorealistic setting and action behind a layer of imperfections, the staticy bodycams lack of detail having us fill in the rest with our brain
