changing keyboard controls
downloaded the free version of this game because i wanted to try it. this is one of those games i missed, i had blood quake etc, never even heard of shadow warrior, anyway what i want to know is, how to i set keys to the controls. it seems the open button and the portable medkit button are the same, so everytime open a door with less than 100 health he uses the medkit.

You need to run the setup.exe program to change controls, it cannot be done from in-game. As it is a dos program you'll need to use DOSBox for it, if you change the dosbox config file in the game directory and replace sw.exe with setup.exe that should work.

If I remember correctly, open the file "dosbox_swarrior_single.conf" in Notepad and change the line near the bottom that says "sw.exe" into "setup.exe" - that should start the setup program instad of booting straight into the game.

You don't need to download Dosbox seperately, it's included with Shadow Warrior.

Ok, so I'll be super thorough...

– In your Steam library, find "Shadow Warrior Classic (1997)", right click it and select "Properties".
– Go to the "Local files" tab and then click "Browse local files".
– Go into the "gameroot" directory.
– Right click the file "dosbox_swarrior_single.conf" (might just display as "dosbox_swarrior_single"). If the option "Edit" is there, select it. Otherwise, select "Open with" and find "Notepad".
– Go to the bottom of the text file. Nearthe bottom (should be third line from the bottom) there should be a line saying "sw.exe" - replace it with "setup.exe" (without quotes).

Now next time you launch the game it should start the setup program instead of going straight into the game. It has the option "Save and launch Shadow Warrio" to start the game.

On that note if you're playing the Complete version you'll notice that there are 3 sections with "sw.exe" in them. Change all 3 to "setup.exe" and be sure to save the document.
